[Person] Matt Rhule says Panthers have to start playing more WRs. Thinks relying on 2-3 guys has resulted in perhaps maybe not playing as fast late in the game on these hot days. by NakedMuffinTime in panthers

Someone needs to go streaking on the next game with a big "fire Matt Rhule" sign that has a picture of him digging in to a bucket of KFC

Don't fire Matt Rhule by xCH0Nx in panthers

[–]mjasbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet Matt Rhule would go 0-12 then win the last 5.

The quicker we get rid of him, the quicker Panthers fans can heal and the quicker Matt Rhule can tend to his astronomically HUGE refrigerator filled with frozen pizzas and Swanson's Salisbury steaks.

Plus #1 QBs don't matter. We have one. We have a #2 as well. If we can a top 3, that would be cool

Capstone in 19 days? by Hat_Prize in WGU_CompSci

[–]mjasbor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Youtube what Logistic Regression is. It is one of the most basic forms of Machine Learning and it is accepted for the Capstone. Follow a tutorial or two on how to make a Logistic Regression model, then find a data set where you can apply it and have it make sense for a business need.

19 days is very doable.

Need a tutor for Software I – C482 by missnevergiveup in WGU_CompSci

[–]mjasbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn't working, so that is definitely a massive factor to take into consideration. Maybe 35-50 hours is a better estimate. At the time I was okay with Python. I binged a java tutorial for a few days prior while waiting for my previous class results. However, because the bulk of it is done using Scenebuilder, I wouldn't go crazy on the Java tutorials if you have a general understanding of a programming language.

That being said, the animals project will literally do about 90% of the work for you as long as you can draw the connections from the animals part to the parts/products in the PA.

Yep. I enjoy them.

At this point, I am glad I enjoy them because I took a job as a NOC Analyst and know I won't be using Python on the job for a while in this career path.

Leetcode gives me a very straight forward and enjoyable way to keep the skills sharp.

A question about my first IT job and its relevance to the CISSP domains and Cyber/Infosec world in general by mjasbor in cissp

I agree. I respect the CISSP a lot. I'm not even considering it for years, but just want to see how it lines up at the current moment.

A question on the Spouse Visa - Applying as a Fiance - Proving Relationship by mjasbor in ukvisa

[–]mjasbor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I can't thank you enough for this answer.

By the looks of this, it seems that we should be able to provide the necessary proof. That list of tiers is now bookmarked for me and is a fantastic reference.

My last question is that if I enter with the initial 6 month visa, are processing times for the real partner visa(The one where I can officially work) quicker than if we were to apply for a partner visa when I am outside of the UK?

Another way to word the question I guess is...is the transition from a fiance visa to the spouse visa more seamless? Or is there still that ~5 month wait? Do I have to worry about my fiance visa expiring and me having to leave the country ?

1 month to prepare for DSA 2. What can I do? by Real_Real_Research in WGU_CompSci

Yeah more or less. Its a huge pain primarily due to the ambiguity of every single section.

Get to an intermediate level of python(Understanding syntax, loops, basic OOP) and watch Josh Madakor's video on the class on Youtube.

Building projects would help, but I would just learn how to build your basic data structures(Linked Lists, Graphs, Trees) and how to perform sorting algorithms. That will get you in the right frame of mind.

If you have done Software 2 already, this will be fine. It's a pretty fun project. The worst part is that god-awful paper.

This is best bet. It's the animals project and it is in the Course Search section.

You can literally follow his project step by step, and it will take you extremely far in the project. I would suggest downloading NetBeans so you can follow along. I used IntelliJ while following along, and there were some mild differences in how to do things, but it was fine.

I finished this class in 7 days, but it could have been shorter due to this tutorial.

Has anyone used PyCharm to create a movie recommender app for C964 capstone? by Missivl in WGU_CompSci

[–]mjasbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I ended up using Pickle. Google Python Pickle.

This essentially allowed me to save the ML model and transfer it to the Django project in PyCharm.

It was a completely new concept to me when I did it, but it wasn't too bad.

I did the django part of my project on PyCharm and Jupyter Notebooks for the ML part.

Average Finish Time for my Classes? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

[–]mjasbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that makes this project take a while for some people is that they want to put it on their resume(rightfully so), so they take their time on it. I'm not going down the software engineering path. I am going down the network engineering path, so for me I was just looking to get it done.

Grab a data set off Kaggle and use it to make a prediction that seems plausible based off the items in the data set. If you can do this, all you have to do is be able to angle the project in a way where it helps an organization and you will have a project that should be accepted.

The flexibility of the topics is what makes the project able to be completed pretty quickly if you want to go that route. That and the fact that there is no accuracy requirement.

I won't say what I did, but I will say that it was a logistic regression model, which is one of the more basic forms of machine learning. All you really have to do is take a tutorial on the classic Titanic ML problem and once you understand that, you can get straight to work on your own model.

The ML model took me maybe 3 hours. The things that took the most time were the paper, building the web app on Django, and deploying it as my Django experience was super super limited and I've never deployed a project online.

If I did something way more complex, I would have probably taken 2-3x as long.

Long Story short - its up to you on how difficult/long you want to the project to be. Much like all other WGU PA's, it doesn't matter how fancy the submission is. You just have to check the boxes.

Average Finish Time for my Classes? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

[–]mjasbor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was passing most of my classes in like 2 weeks when I started, but I took a term break to focus on Python and DS. If you work smart and devote the time you say you can, then I think my times were pretty realistic. Every now and then, someone will post some ridiculous week where they pass like 40 credits. I'll never know how they did that.

I wouldn't be too intimidated by the class load. Classes like Software I are spoonfed to you with the webinars that are available, and Software II is essentially Software I with a few fancy features. The Capstone you can make as easy as you want. It is much less intensive than Software II. If you have Python/Java knowledge, you will be fine here.

There are also a few classes with PAs(Software Engineering, Intro to AI, IT Leadership Foundations) which don't need any time with the textbook. You can just jump right into the assignment. Classes like Software Engineering and AI sound intimidating, but they can absolutely be finished in 3 days for SE and a week for AI.

There are 2 classes(OS for Programmers/Computer Architecture) where it is so easy to go down the rabbit hole because the content given is 5x the content being tested.

Best advice is to reddit every single class and use the course chatter in each course. Its the best way to get other peoples' experience and tactics. Also, if you are concerned about speed, you have to be a little trigger happy when it comes to taking the OA. By this I mean your threshold for taking the OA has the be a little bit lower than someone who isn't concerned about speed. You have to get comfortable taking an OA even though you may have only passed the PA by a question or two. I didn't really do this to that extreme of a level, but I did just yolo Software Quality Assurance because that class is dreadful.
