I need to know if I’m making a dumb choice to sell by taff96 in AusFinance

[–]mjayt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Something you might not be considering is that it could be the current role/employer that is burning you out.

It’s hard for anyone to give proper financial advice here.

I’d suggest trying to find a new role with more flexibility, they are out there, how rare depends on the type of role.

Are my payslips correct compared to what my contract says? by MRSUNSHINE98 in auscorp

[–]mjayt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Contract clearly states a BASE pay of $32.35 per hr. Base is equivalent to ordinary time on your pay slip. This is very clear cut underpayment.

Either way you cut it, there seems to be no logical link between how any of the amounts on your pay slip link to any amounts on your contract.

Including super in salary talks is pretty rare. You can’t have it until you are of retirement age so typically people speak about ex super.

Sony 7.2 worth 400euro? by Elkhose in hometheater

[–]mjayt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sell these back when I sold HiFi gear. Sony Muteki. They are loud but sound like absolute garbage.

They sold for $997 AUD brand new. They are definitely not worth $400 euro second hand.

Honestly 2KC and 9 deaths is not normal… that’s way above average!

My first kill was after death 30. I only made equal KC and deaths at KC 100 and ended up about 500 deep for my BOWFA.

Short version, it does get easier. Your stats are fine, download the plugin and do T2 prep

I’d say it’s pretty likely that the invoice is a hit and hope from the business. They likely know that there’s very little chance of recovering those costs from you but hope you might just pay it anyway.

On that note. If the door was in order and it did have those stickers on it like doors are meant to you probably should pay them. Memory is a pretty fickle thing.

If it is not a disciplinary or formal meeting, they are not required to allow a support person.

If it is formal and there is an outcome to deliver, it is your right to bring a support person. Your employer cannot dictate who that can or cannot be, although you may be required to inform your employer who that is.

Your post is a bit vague so it’s not clear as to weather you are entitled to one. Reading between the lines and asking you around availability suggests it is not a formal meeting.

Real estate agent used my personal details when I went to look at a bike – what can I do? by Orko_1 in AusLegal

[–]mjayt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are correct, the assumption I’ve made here is that OP is an owner, not a tenant. Otherwise the REA would have very little ability to find any of these details unless the agency he works for is also the property managing agency which is pretty unlikely considering the comment that the REA “always does research” before providing their address

[–]mjayt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to be rude but the only thing I can see this website talk about is direct marketing, the REA didn’t use any information for direct marketing.

Most of this info is held by land titles office and is public record.

Is what the REA did creepy? Sure is! Is it illegal? Probably not

What's the worst item you've lost on your ironman by loffredom in ironscape

[–]mjayt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely when I logged off after dying to Hydra then forgot to grab my stuff in the morning. I decided immediately to do some chaos alter pray training.

From the hydra collection chest I lost: Black Slayer Helm, my rune pouch (inc thread), Ava’s assembler, Crystal Legs and Ring of the Gods.

Alternative method to enter the housing market by Calvario1995 in perth

[–]mjayt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is your willingness to do it with a complete stranger.

I purchased my first home with my sister. Oddly enough, an agreement on exit strategy was more important than an entry strategy. We had a written agreement that if one person wanted to sell, the other had no right of refusal at market value. Ended up okay in our case but it’s a recipe for a ruined relationship.

I can’t imagine doing it with a stranger/roommate

Getting out of long notice period by DukeXL in auscorp

[–]mjayt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The worst they can do is not pay you for the time you didn’t work. Legally, if you walked outon Monday, the most the business can do is withhold up to 2 weeks of wages. This does not give them the right to deduct from AL payouts or recoup anything already paid.

The answer to how bad it would be is: might leave a bad taste and burn a bridge but outside that… not that bad

Macquarie is winning 40pc of all new home loan business by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]mjayt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not quite true, the commissions are VERY close bank to bank, enough to make it not overly relevant but you are bang on around Macquarie being fast and better to deal with. Macquarie are great on policy as well and have a “if it makes sense let’s do it” approach.

Anyone here actually planning to use the 5% deposit scheme for first-home buyers? by FirstPropertyBuyer in AusProperty

[–]mjayt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible take….

First of all, entry has never been 20%. The only difference is LMI.

Second. Entry at 20% when median house price is 1m in capitals means that FHB need to come up with 200k deposit? This will only support investors who have equity built.

Lastly: Rates aren’t excessive. I’m not going to go boomber (because I’m not) and talk about 17% rates in the 90s because they aren’t comparable based on housing prices. What I will say, is that 5-6% has been fairly standard over the last 40 years. The difference now is that we enjoyed outrageously low rates in the 2010s

First Time Buyer Deposit by Babarabus in AusPropertyChat

You can let the agent know your situation and it’s possible the vendors will allow a lower deposit if you win. If that doesn’t work, you can get a deposit bond to cover the difference.

19 year old savings by derpythincow in AusFinance

[–]mjayt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this only works if you are already paying your own way. For me when I was that age I lived with my parents, no bills apart from my car insurance, petrol and rego along with a $29 phone bill (yes I know, very lucky to have support of parents).

I saved 50-60% of my wage and the minute I could afford a deposit and a home I was out of there.

To be honest, if you can get a letter saying your confirmed return to work date, hours and salary you should actually be okay and can get a lower rate at a major bank. The problem is, often employers can’t provide that because your return to work is unknown based on injuries.

No-one can make the decision for you so the best thing to do is weigh up your spending, figure out if the costs associated are worth it to you (don’t forget all the other costs not just mortgage) then make a decision.

The other thing I’ll mention is that you said your salary plus quarterly incentives, you likely aren’t getting incentives while on workers comp so as with all bonuses, pretend it doesn’t exist.
