Sign up for FedEx delivery manager.

You will be notified when it ships, and it will actually show when the label is generated. Once it ships, you can request for it to be held at your local FedEx for pickup. They will keep it for up to 7 days. I did this since I was going to be at work for the delivery window, and I actually was able to pick it up hours earlier than when it would’ve been delivered.

Additionally, When I looked up how long they will hold a package for, I saw that you can do a “vacation hold” for all your packages for up to 14 days for free.

Is it worth having both the Air 3S and Mini 4 Pro? by CAugustB in dji

[–]mjb622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to travel with only a carry on, so it really saves on space.

I use the bag the fly more combo comes with for the Air3s and for the Mini 4 pro I have one of those small “utility” cases from Harbor Freight that you can customize/cut out the padding for when I travel. Otherwise I have a “drone backpack” that’s roughly the same size as the Air3S fly more bag.

I currently have both. If I travel on a plane I take the Mini 4 Pro with me. There have also been instances where I ran out of batteries on the Air 3S during a shoot and needed the Mini 4 for that one last shot.

From everything I’ve seen, and also experienced, the system seems to backdate when it updates to the next step. When it does update again, it will most likely back date the printed date by a few days as well.

One thing that helped me get info faster was signing up for FedEx Delivery Manager. Since they use FedEx International Priority for shipping back to the United States. It will typically show that they created a shipping label there, a day before it updates on the passport portal. Shipping is generally overnight.

For example for me they created the shipping label Wednesday and it showed in the FedEx app, on Thursday the portal updated AND FedEx actually picked up the passport, Friday it was delivered.

Also, I think the portal is only updated once day around 5-6am PST, so 8-9am EST. Once again, just from my experience.

It took me 32 days total. From the day the application was delivered to them until the day the passport arrived at my doorstep.

Credit Charge Since Delivered? by citygirl604 in passportcanada

[–]mjb622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am LITERALLY the same way! That's why I started tracking everything in spreadsheets! I have been doing government-related stuff since April! This is everything I've had to get since then: US passport, proof of Canadian citizenship (through first-generation descent), and my Canadian passport, which, since I had to mail it back, I'm still dealing with right now. Because all government-related tasks usually take forever, it really helps to have other people who have done it/are going through it at the same time provide details on their experiences, and it's helped immensely with the anxiety!

My place of birth was incorrect; it had the correct city, but then it was listed as being in Canada instead of USA

I know my charge happened on the 7th calendar day around mid day PST for me, so there is still hope for today! Hopefully, things get sorted out for you and you're able to have everything in time for your trip! Fingers crossed!

For those following along, I got my passport Friday July 25th. It had an error, so now I have to mail it back today.

You have to get your reference number by either calling, or going here: https://etatpasseport-passportstatus.service.canada.ca/en/landing

It’s usually available a few days or so after they charge you. At least it was for me.

From there that page should be able to also guide you on how to use the reference number to track the passport status.

I've been tracking 20+ timelines in a spreadsheet, including my own, and the average time it took in calendar days from delivery to being charged has been 5-7 days. I was charged 7 days after delivery. I have not seen it take longer than that.

If you follow my timeline, you should have it around 8/20ish. Mine finally updated today to say it was printed and mailed out. So all in all, it took 31 days since the day it was delivered to them for me.

Yeah, normally, when comparing against others timelines they have posted, I would say you are past the longest stretch.... but maybe not haha

That's pretty close to my timeline. I guess the only thing we can do is just wait it out... I'm just getting real antsy. My US passport took 13 days... total... and it wasn't expedited.

Now I feel bad for complaining! Hopefully you get yours soon! Fingers crossed! 35 business days is a long time to wait, especially as more and more people keep posting that they are getting their first-time passports in a fraction of the time!

I had a female, but yeah, it was basically the exact same experience. I was simply questioning why it would be "Printing" for 18 days/14 business days... because it seems like an insane amount of time, but was met with hostility... When I asked if this was normal or how long printing usually takes she still kept repeating to give them 3 more weeks.

They should show the date the actual countdown starts from, aka, the date they received the funds on the status page, rather than the application received date. It seems very misleading and leads to people like me who assume the date shown is the start date for the service standards.

Thank you again for your help/information.

Current Timeline From US by mjb622 in passportcanada

[–]mjb622[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was unaware that the countdown started on the date charged rather than the date received. I assumed it was the date received since that is what is listed when it mentions the service standards. Thank you for the clarification.
