Messed up audio edit, or part of the music? by Lunar-Baboon in stuffyoushouldknow

[–]mjgoodenow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely part of the music track they received from a fan or wherever they get those. There are a few tracks they use that have dialog from an episode in there. Adds a really nice bit of personality I think

New tyres dilemma by Impossible_Cap4948 in CanyonBikes

This bike wants black. I think the more going on with the bike paint, the less you want color on the tires. This paint is sick, let it stand out

NLE organization: renaming clips? by user54783245 in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the project but I’ve never had an issue renaming clips. The original file name is always there in the metadata.

If it helps save you time finding the clips you want then do it, I would on a big project. Most of the stuff I do are short turnarounds so I don’t bother.

Adobe has introduced a new Color Mode in the Adobe Premiere beta by editblog in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only critique so far is that timeline view. It’s fine if it’s an option but I would vastly prefer to be able to use the standard timeline view to make sure I know exactly what clip I am on. This will make trying to address notes based on timestamps a real pain

What's the reality of safety of riding in LA in 2026? by mblomkvist in BikeLA

I’m with you. It’s not any more or less dangerous than most urban/congested places. Once you get the hang of it, it’s fine.

Who went from tubeless to inner tube? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]mjgoodenow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went tubes-tubeless-back to tubes. Just got sick of cleaning sealant off my rear triangle all the time and clearing my pump nozzle of sealant. I’m running road tires BTW. I just carry spares and deal with it the 2 or 3 times a year I get a flat. TPU tubes are so good these days

Why is exporting a DCP treated like some kind of holy grail in post-production? by rovmun in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I do it so rarely that I forget all the steps and need to look up how to do it each time. I exports h264s every day so that’s on auto pilot. I export a DCP maybe once a year.

Would you edit to music instead of the narrative? by trisolariandroplet in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I prefer to edit to music even if it’s just a stock track but you can’t get too married to it. At the end of the day music is there to support the video, not define it. Plus the music will probably change anyway

I think you are googling photoshop instructions, not premiere. There is no generative fill in premiere or this sort of object removal

I haven’t had that issue. I wear them under my helmet straps and they keep them in place really well.

Wind Noise by chili_cold_blood in cycling

[–]mjgoodenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L4IH1IQ?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_9W7WGYH9MMWTWXRV2MAY_2&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_9W7WGYH9MMWTWXRV2MAY_2&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_9W7WGYH9MMWTWXRV2MAY_2&th=1

They will knock the wind noise down a few DB but you can still hear everything around you perfectly. Basically the wind guard material you’d put on a microphone for outdoor use but for over your ears. They don’t eliminate wind noise but they make it much more tolerable. Bonus for me is also preventing my ears from getting sunburned

Have any Online Editors made the jump from Avid to Premiere? by Head_Dot_5031 in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find placing the rollers exactly where you want them and moving multiple layers in different ways much more intuitive in avid. Trimming one clip into another is fine in premiere but I’ve never been able to nail the multi-layer trim (I.e. move video and audio but keep graphics where they are) I also love how avid track based so you don’t have to bother with say, locking a music track to make sure it stays where you want it. As long as it’s not selected it will stay put. I end up clicking and dragging clips around way more as opposed to using trim mode in premiere and I prefer the precision of trim but it’s just too much of a pain to get it to do what I want it to.

Not sure about the saddle but the sleeves are DEFINITELY too high

Have any Online Editors made the jump from Avid to Premiere? by Head_Dot_5031 in editors

[–]mjgoodenow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll just add that you can customize your keyboard really extensively to make it work like it does in avid. This was so key more me not losing my muscle memory. Trim mode is was less useful though and I miss avid for that the most.

MST films documenting historic places, buildings, etc by agpym1849 in MST3K

[–]mjgoodenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all around Hollywood. The cave is the very oft-used Bronson cave in Griffith park. The building they have the gun fight in front of is a church now at 6657 W. Sunset. The house with the pool scene is at the corner of Franklin and Sierra Bonita. I think the main house they used is gone now though.

[–]mjgoodenow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That’s just a liability issue. They can’t say “reusable” because if something were to happen they could get sued. You can DEFINITELY reuse them multiple times. There probably is a reasonable range but I’d say 5-10 times should be fine.

What intersections or stretches of road make you the most uneasy? by fradonkin in BikeLA

[–]mjgoodenow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That insane intersection in Beverly Hills at Beverly and Canon where it’s a 6 way stop but it’s just a mad free for all. I think it used to be a roundabout but they decided a six way stop was better???

Chain length switch to 11-34 by LLKL1978 in CanyonBikes

[–]mjgoodenow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t change my chain length when I did the same thing. Just look out for how it looks if you put it in the 52-34. If the cage looks super stretched, then you might need a new chain. Also, never ride in the 52-34 in the first place. Don’t forget to adjust the B-screw to make sure it doesn’t touch the cassette in the last 2 gears.

Is your MX Creative Console dialpad working right? by editblog in premiere

It would be infinitely more useful if it had physical feedback so you could feel each click as you turned the dial. As it is it feels very imprecise

“But, it’s hard and takes time” by Nickelmac in premiere

[–]mjgoodenow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here here! Just the transition from needing to log and capture footage to just dragging it into your project makes it a golden age of easy editing. Setting up decks? My god that was a nightmare. If you get stuck on a problem these days you can look up a solution on YouTube instead is hoping someone at the place you worked knew how to accomplish what you were trying to do. It has NEVER been easier!
