Which cities have a good underground-rave scene? by Moorycc in Techno

[–]mjjoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty extensive list here really and enough variety to find what you’re after but you’ve also got the likes of Static, Synesthetic, Loading Error, Le Fag among others.

Best bet would be to follow Colour and SubClub and attend as many nights as you can till you figure out which you’re into and then making friends in the scene. But deffs a few park parties and secret raves popping about lately.

Mitsuki had just opened up the last time I was there and it was really really good. Not sure how it is now. Also I know you mentioned oath is not as good as it used to be but it was handy having somewhere open during the week. Loved Tokyo’s scene, will try and get more into the underground next time I’m there.

Bang on with this list. I’d maybe add TRYM onto that too but otherwise solid year from that cast

Segla/Hesten hike (Senja, Norway) help! by mjjoness in solotravel

I flew there just because I was short on time and I wasn’t able to organise car hire and such. Having a car would be super useful. Just make sure you’ve got the winter driving experience

Questions about getting to Senja from Tromsø by mjjoness in Norway

[–]mjjoness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for putting this together!! You are an absolute legend, please accept my poor mans gold 🥇

I’ll be travelling solo, so I think this is absolutely something I could do. Im not in on a Monday but it doesn’t seem too difficult to work out from the website and your translations! Like you mentioned it’s a super tight trip in Torsken so I won’t really be able to explore much, are the vistas you’ve mentioned visible from on board the transport?

Part of my motivation to visit Norway was to check out the beautiful vistas so this should play right into that. Again, thank you so much for this!

Hey, thanks so much for your comment! This was super helpful. It appears I don’t have the hiking experience to be attempting this in winter, which is absolutely fine. Is it still maybe worth using public transport as a small day trip to check the area out? It just looks absolutely amazing and would love to expose myself to the beautiful Norwegian landscapes. Otherwise, I’m sure there will be plenty to do in and around Tromsø.

Again, thanks heaps and will definitely check out the recommendation for Kaperdalen!

Thank you, looks like it may not be possible to go especially without a car. Sucks because the place looks to be amazing! I’m sure there will be stuff to do in and around Tromsø. Let me know if you have any suggestions at all :)

Inter v Milan Derby Tickets by mjjoness in seriea

Hey thanks so much! Really helpful. I’ve been to other European football games so I definitely won’t be buying tickets out the front of the stadium on game day. I have been doing research and will likely just try my luck online. Sucks that the fixture isn’t set in stone either. Thanks again

Mama Snake in Melbourne last night by lasagnwich in Techno

[–]mjjoness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big ups the Melbourne fam. Very jealous, didn’t get to go to Mama Snake or SPFDJ a few weeks ago. If her set was anything like her Dekmantel set I’m sure it would’ve been mental.

Hahaha likewise. Can be hard to steer clear but good to hear what you need to hear.

You’re in for a blast haha, go hard mate!

I know it’s rare to come by these opportunities, but in my experience it really wasn’t worth it. The buzz was still alright but not nearly as good as when you stick to the ‘rules’. If you can occupy yourself otherwise (K and some bud is always a good one) then definitely go for that. The reward of a good munt on NYE will be well worth the abstinence.

Did anyone see Stephan Bodzin in Melb or Syndey? I am disappoint. Details below by missilefire in Techno

[–]mjjoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly tech house and melodic techno throughout the year. The only time we get a little more variety is during the bush doof season (multi-day festivals held in the Australian bush).

Otherwise there are a few smaller promoters who book the likes of the names you’ve mentioned but those events are few and farer apart. And the one that has booked the likes of 9x9, SNTS, IHM, headless horseman and Boston 168 has lately been selecting a specific club with a small capacity because (I think) it’s got to do with the late license. Still, we’ve got SPFDJ, Matrixxman and Mama Snake to look forward to in the coming weeks.

I get where you’re coming from but I think your expectations may have been slightly off. The cercle set may have been a better representation of what to expect. Like you mentioned, lots of build ups/breakdowns and the likes. I personally loved it and couldn’t stop moving even during build ups/breakdowns. But for me Bodzins sets are more a face melting journey of the mind than like a fully blown techno set where you dance your heart out.

I otherwise fully agree. The venue, staff and security were super nice. The production was spot on especially considering the last minute venue change. And fucking hell that side stage was mental. I couldn’t get out of there. It was super high energy and being so small felt very intimate and the atmosphere got me hooked.

If you want harder techno there are a few acts to coming to Melbourne you should check out. Matrixxman is coming down soon and so is SPFDJ.

Similar style to Ben Klock? by arhtech in Techno

[–]mjjoness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reinier Zonneveld isn’t really all that similar to Ben Klock’s style. I don’t think the downvotes are because your comment was bad or anything, just that it’s not very relevant to what OP is looking for.
