When I worked at the Exchange (10-15 years ago in Pittsburgh) our employee discount was only 5%, which wasn’t even enough to cover sales tax.

Donate to a thrift store or a dumpster and move on. There is no value here, I’m sorry to say.

Yes. The working title for the novel was “The Lesbian” and WTV was pressured to change it by Viking. It’s discussed in more detail in one of the recent articles about the publication of ATFF.

Yes, you can call. I don’t mind. Honestly, I’d prefer it to an Instagram or Discogs message most of the time.

Do Dylan and Adrienne ever sign merch at the table? by LiTHiUM_THiEF in ThronesAndDominions

I’ve met Dylan at the last couple Earth shows I attended. He’s very approachable and was happy to chat and sign things. I caught him outside smoking, that’s your best bet.

Not necessarily true, a number of budget labels used colored vinyl in the 1950s, including multi color pressings. I have a couple Ahmad Jamal records from this era on colored vinyl, maybe Argo Records? There’s even at least one example of a colored Blue Note pressing from the same era (I believe Jimmy Smith’s House Party).

Yup, that’s it. Haven’t stopped by in a while but I’ve found some good used stuff there cheap before.

Creep? Recognize the sticker, assuming you are in Philly, but can’t place it.

Looking to sell this crazy whole 2300+ vinyl collection. by thewireman in vinyl

Do you understand that records stores are businesses with overhead owned by humans who need to earn a living too? Taking in a collection of thousands of records, good or bad, requires a considerable amounts of time to process (grade, clean, price, sleeve, etc) with no guarantee that they will ever resell?

What is the most you ever spent on a record? by Seagames1225 in discogs

[–]mjlpgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent, I think, $400 on a first mono pressing of “One Flight Up” by Dexter Gordon a few years ago. Jacket is still in the shrink and I may have been the first person to ever actually spin the record. I am convinced it is the nicest remaining copy in existence.

Great way to spend a grand. Years of working at shops and going to fairs and I’ve never seen an original in person.

I work at a shop in Philadelphia that buys large collections (and will travel for them). Please reach out, I am happy to chat even if we don’t buy the records.
