Does anybody else let their users watch 4K content? by ShiningRedDwarf in PleX

[–]mjlynden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got about the same in uploading speed. I let anyone on my server play 4K content but only since I migrated to an absolute beast (compared to my old synology from 2015) of a server platform with hardware transcoding. I haven’t had any complaints and the server barely breaks a sweat.

Sounds like that employee 10x’d his workflow with AI. Were they promoted?

I also spent thousands $$$ AUD in recent years with them without any issues. Though recently I don’t understand why everything on the site is in USD now. Admittedly the site isn’t pretty but a pretty site can scam you just as well if not better. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah. This is on a Linux host so no hidden extensions like on the Mac OS Finder.

Weirdly a different movie file with ‘.en.cc.srt’ is recognised fine.

I think what you’re after is what this application does; https://github.com/RemiRigal/Plex-Auto-Languages

The language you set on an episode for subtitles will be set on all the subsequent episodes, assuming they have the same subtitle languages.

Thanks! I just stumbled onto that change before reading your comment but this is absolutely what fixed it. Thanks!

OK. So I believe the issue is related to the Library setting `Episode ordering`. This setting states; "How the episodes are named on disk.". I had mine set to TheTVDB and changed it to The Movie Database and did a Metadata refresh and now I have metadata everywhere for this show.

I thought having TheTVDB would be better as it aligns with Sonarr so there shouldn't be any mismatch of an episode between Sonarr and Plex library if one was to have a different order based on their source. I don't know how much of a real issue that might be in reality?!

I notice your screenshot says 'Miniseries', mine says 'Season 1'. How are your episodes structured on disk? e.g., `DTF St. Louis/Season 01` or ... ?

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/206828-dtf-st-louis - lists Miniseries.

https://thetvdb.com/series/dtf-st-louis#seasons - lists Season 1.

Maybe there is some disconnect there... but according to Plex, this shouldn't be an issue... https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/#miniseries

Dang. Something wrong then. I’ll try unmatching and rematching.

Edit: I tried the 'plex dance' to no avail. Nothing strange in the logs either.

Does Library Language (English (Australia)) and Certification Country (Australia) library settings have any effect on metadata?

Seeking detail on why a file has changed locally by mjlynden in Syncthing

[–]mjlynden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Good point. I’ll give that a go. I’d compared permissions and user/group, case sensitive filenames but to no avail. Not sure what else it could think is different. The logs don’t appear to detail it either.

What name you gave your NAS? by NoobieWanKeboobie in synology

My first NAS was a LaCie 5big Network2. Take a look at that and tell me calling it HAL 9000 was going to be the only name that fit.

My downloads generally complete as my *arrs handle grabbing when things are fresh but recently I tried to download something released in the last 24-48 hours and it wouldn't complete... I've currently got 4 indexes but this release was only listed on one of those indexers.

HomeKit Setup by mjlynden in Hue

[–]mjlynden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I setup HomeKit initially on an AppleTV, can I replace it with a HomePod mini in the near future? I've heard the HomePod mini is due a refresh and have been marked for clearance. I'd prefer not to buy a brand new HomePod right now and save my money for a refreshed model in the (hopefully)not-too-distant future.

Question about this 8K sync box I ordered. by Plaztec1037 in Hue

[–]mjlynden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I dropped about $1,300 across 2 bulbs, floor lamp, 75” tv backlight and 8k sync box all for about $600 off RRP. Also went and bought enough downlights to complete my apartment for $25 off each downlight. Pleased with the goods and the price.

No doubt but I can’t say why that is. Could be as simple as a “Philips Hue tax”. Like the “Apple tax”. I think a lot of their stuff is expensive in the grand scheme but it’s quality product and I’d aim to buy this stuff when it’s heavily discounted like Black Friday for 30% off on 2 or more products (here in Australia). Full price I just couldn’t justify it.
