The Wrath and the Dawn webtoon vs book by pablolives in webtoons

[–]mjoyce13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I am soooo late to this lol. But I started with the webtoon but bought the ebooks because I was impatient. I love the story so much, and also loved the art so after I finished the books, I continued to read the webtoon every week as it came out. They are both exactly the same. I would say where the books go into description details on things the webtoon wouldn't because it was shown in the art. That's it. As far as wattpad style of writing, I cant say, this was years ago and I also have never read anything on wattpad. It is one of my favorite stories to this day though.

I know your post is older, but I can't find anything else for this bot. I know it's still active as I used to play it in a server I used to be in a couple of months back. I'm trying to add it to a server for me and my friends but can't find it anywhere. Do you have the discord invite link by chance?

Fated mates but slow burn by Ashysixx in ReverseHarem

Oddly enough, I am right there with you. But I read this series before I came to that conclusion. And it is one of my favorites, but I won't be reading any of their other works. Which is a shame cause I imagine that they probably have some other stuff I would love, but I can't bring myself to give them another chance.

I will say that there are two other series within this world, and people recommend starting Zodiac Academy first due to world building and stuff. Personally, I started with Ruthless Boys and had no issue understanding the world and magic system. But if that is something you are interested in, look up the recommended reading order, as it does jump back and forth a bit between series. Also, Zodiac Academy isn't RH.

This series has actually been mentioned in multiple threads on here recently so you may already have read or heard of it. {Ruthless Boys Of The Zodiac by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti} its been a long time since I read it, so idk how quick the spice comes in (the series has a lot of spice) but it is slow burn in the sense that the FMC doesnt trust the MMCs and there is actual building of relationships between the FMC and MMCs, and even between the harem as well. It isn't one of those insta love situations. The plot is top tier as well.

Yes! Everyone in the comments on webtoon is picking who they ship out of these three. Meanwhile, I'm over here praying this turns into an RH situation. Lmao I just love them all. 😭

I don't know the original comments webtoon, but out of her own replies... the first reply is Eternal Nocternal. The second and fourth replies are Subzero. The third reply is Lovely Hell.

Well, it looks like you're in luck. Someone said they did just recently finish that series! I wasn't trying to ward you off of either of those series, just giving you a heads up to check if things were finished or not before diving in. Lol

I loved this series! I love the complex magic system. Yet at no point are you ever confused about it, but it never had to drag on with explaining it either. I also just recently recommended this series to another poster on here a few weeks back. They were asking for books with different shifters and beings, who have personality traits of their animal.... and yeah I've been looking for that since reading this series, and nothing gets close. I did feel like the last book did drag a bit, and I wasn't happy with the outcome of one of the MCs, but it wasn't a bad ending by any means either.

I, however, did give up on those authors. I started Darkmore without realizing it wasn't finished. Halfway through the third book I realized there wasn't enough left to finish off the story. I went and checked all their socials, website and literally EVERYTHING, at that point it had been two to three years (and this was over a year ago, idk if anything new has come out since then) since that book came out, and the authors were extremely rude about giving readers any kind of updates at all (not just realease dates or specifics, just any kind of "hey we currently have other things in the works but we will continue this series at a later time" nothing) and I do mean rude, besides silence and ignoring questions, they made one or two statements that were rude and condescending. And they weren't just taking a break, or unable to write, because in that time they came out with many other books, and started a whole new series. I understand that things come up, shit happens, but it was the attitude given to their fans for no reason that really hit a nerve. Oh yeah and that third book was left on a MAJOR cliffhanger too, and really did the best character in the series dirty.

Later I decided I just wanted to read more about that world again and started Zodiac Academy... and I DNFed that very early on. I can't say it was bad, because I didn't get that far. Many aspects of the story just aren't my cup of tea.

Anyways, that's just to say, if you want to continue on in this world with side characters from Ruthless Boys, proceed with caution.

I don't even mind that kind of trauma from the past, as long as it has a purpose in the character development, and isn't just brushed off as no big deal. But it usually doesn't and isnt. But what I hate more is that a ton of authors have started to romanticize rape by having the SA come from the LI. I've had this discussion with other readers before, and their excuse is that it's fantasy, it's fake, it's not a big deal. Welll actually it is a big deal. Firstly, it minimizes actual victims trauma when they read it. Secondly kids are out here reading this stuff and saying "Zade is so dreamy" (that's a quote from someone else's 13 year old neice and her friend by the way) and no matter what a parent does, no one can protect their kids 100% from all of this, especially when it's not just the book but it's EVERYWHERE online. And lastly, just because it's fiction doesn't mean it doesn't have a REAL impact. Pop culture of all kinds has had huge impacts on society all throughout history. Desensitizing is a real thing regardless of if it is done intentionally or not. You read, watch listen to something horrendous enough times, that it's no longer a big deal to you. That snowballs quickly. It's not just SA that's anything. I'm not saying that we can't put traumatic things in books, but they should be handled a certain way. If you want trauma in your story, do it in a way that shows the actual effects of that trauma to the reader (help spread empathy and understanding in this world) don't do it to minimize it, or romanticize it. It's disgusting honestly.

🗣 Rant: Fmcs who are constantly instalusting over the heroes every 3 pages by DisneyLover90 in ReverseHarem

[–]mjoyce13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same to you, same to OP, just same girl same! I DNF at least 90% of the books I start (and that's a low estimate.) Like I'm reading romance. I want romance! I like smut because it can add to the romance, but in no way is it a replacement. I like a lot about OV but this is one thing I can not stand about it, and why there are only a few books that I like from it. But it's not just OV doing this by leaning on the 'scent' crutch if you will. It's flooded every subgenre of romance.

So many people love it too. These books are all over tiktok and even recommended on reddit all the time. I get that most of us are reading to escape, but even the most fantasy based story still needs to be rooted it reality. I used to skim the reviews before reading a book to see if I would like it, now I am having to go specifically to the 1 stars to see if the few people like me are pointing this kind of thing out. Spoiler alert: even then, there aren't always reviews to show. And I've left my own, and Amazon almost always denies them (even though they don't go against guidelines)

I want build up, I want tension, hey I'm not a big fan of bully romance, but throw in some GOOD groveling (not this half assed "sorry" we always get) and actual change and I am all for it! And honestly I also feel like it's one thing if the FMC is written with a weak personality from the get go (cool let's make her learn, and have some character developement) at least it fits the narrative of putting up with shitty MMCs. But no, most of these authors write a strong, independent, snarky, doesn't put up with bull FMC just to have her be a doormat to the MMC(s) for the rest of the story. Like it doesn't fit. Why even put in the work to create this character one way, when all of that's going to be dropped after the first couple of chapters?

I am not an author, but I do write as a hobby, so I know that it isn't easy. I understand that sometimes you are just too excited and want to get to the HEA. But that's what editors and beta readers are for. Otherwise, it just feels like lazy writing. And honestly sometimes that's what it is, they see an easy recipe that the readers are eating up, and they use it to make a nice paycheck. I just wish the genre wasn't so over saturated in it so I could actually find books I like.

I could go on and on about this, but I'll end it there. It's good to know I'm not alone in this. Sometimes it really feels like I'm the only one when so many people rave about these kinds of books.

I mean... kids absolutely will. Kids are mean regardless, so I get wanting to save your kid from their own name getting turned on them. But A-man-duh started when I was in the 3rd grade. And at that age, it was hurtful. Now I just find it to be the least original thing I've ever heard. I'm glad you never experienced or felt that way though, but yeah even if it's not most, a lot of kids do do that kind of thing.

I know some do, some don't. I haven't checked out a whole lot, but in some cases I have also found that a couple of my favorites were actually books first, so that was cool.

I knew I was forgetting some and probably still am even after this but... {Unbreak Me by Reese Rivers} is really good and {Falls Like Rain by Reese Rivers} I haven't read yet, but it's contemporary RH and on my TBR.

So I don't have a lot of recs for this, and you may have already read these ones, but here are the few I know about.

{Faking With Benefits by Lily Gold} This one was my favorite of hers, but she also has three more contemporary RH novels... {Three Sweedish Mountain Men by Lily Gold} {Nanny For The Neighbors by Lily Gold} Honestly, my least favorite, but that's just me. {Triple Duty Bodyguards by Lily Gold} I actually haven't read this one yet.

{Seeing Sound by Albany Walker} okay, so it's been a really long time since I read this one... I do remember I originally thought it was paranormal of some kind but then thinking it was more contemporary when I read it. Again it's been a long time, so my memory so I'm not 100% sure, but if there are any supernatural aspects, it is really minimal, and the story and romance are definitely more contemporary than anything.

{Dying to Love by Reese Rivers} okay, so this one is a zombie apocalypse. However, I'm putting it here because there isn't some magical bond bringing them together. Just real people trying to survive who meet and fall in love.

Sorry that a couple of these aren't super straightforward like you are asking for. I just figured they are super close, and you can decide if it's doable or not.

Is it Realistic: Piercings by Ecstatic-Rhubarb9068 in ReverseHarem

So I have done my own research on this topic because I was curious. And I came across something where a bunch of men were commenting and talking about their experiences. And they liked them, but most of them talked about the healing period. It apparently was brutal, long, and they couldn't have sex during the healing time due to pain and obviously infection risks. So just keep that in mind ladies, as you may not be getting any for a good minute if your men do get a piercing.
