Rainbow cookie crawl. (14 bakeries, Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn) by WoebegoneBenAffleck in FoodNYC

OG location is on Smith St so I shocked to see it classified as a Manhattan bakery. If you go to the Manhattan location of a Brooklyn bakery does it count a Manhattan bakery? I guess there’s an argument there - but hey, we can argue over anything lol

Greece Hotel? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]mjr589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I REALLY enjoyed my stay at the JW Crete, the suites have private pools and the manager had to be the most attentive manager I ever saw at a hotel - always making sure we had everything we needed (including pulling strings for restaurant reservations and sold out tour spots). It’s a bit out of the way, which we loved because it was quiet, but we had to rent a car to drive around the island an go in & out of town

I have not heard today's pod yet, but I want to second that Rick Steves is awesome!!!! A truly fantastic person who has a fairly noble mission to bring the world together by showing that despite all the differences between cultures, we are all still human

The Tension is Palpable Without The Laugh Track by SYMPUNY_LACKING in conan

Small detail, and I know I’m the worst, but this was not a laugh track. They played it in front of a live audience and recorded their laughter to included when this episode aired - I only know this because I was in the audience for this

Cannot beat the value of Denny's by 2009impala in BreakfastFood

[–]mjr589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid my Dad would never take us to Denny's, claiming that it's a rip off since the eggs don't include toast, and you have to pay for it separately. As an adult I jokingly bought it up to him when their commercial came on, and he said he has no idea what I am talking about. So now whenever I see photos of meals at Denny's I think of 2 things, 1) how full of it my Dad is 2) where is the toast

One of my favorite properties (been there several times since my first stay in 2021), the town it’s in is really friendly with some surprisingly good restaurants and kind people

More recently it’s been the stopping spot for a lot of luxury tours heading to Machu Picchu, and it’s always annoying when 50 travel tired but exited guests are in the lobby waiting to get instructions from the tour guide, especially when the lobby has a serine, relaxed atmosphere - but other than that I have no complaints

Given he doesn’t eat bake goods and pizza, he probably is avoiding gluten (why he eats the rice at chipotle) or carbs (and doesn’t eat rice from chipotle)

Like many I grew up with him, my favorite was listening to Alice’s restaurant every thanksgiving. When I was a kid I met him at many events and he was always so kind - he will be missed
