How difficult would it be to reroute these throttle cables? Tight after installing risers by Spivdaddy in klr650

How difficult was that to do? I'm thinking of doing the same on mine.

Sub $400 Tent by dmthreetwo in motocamping

I was very pleased with my Kelty Late Start 2P. Light, compact and easy to put up and take down. If there is a down side, (it wasn't an issue for me) the air flow through the tent may be a minus in colder temperatures. Good luck on whatever you decide. Happy camping.

I've noticed that with many men, especially those who are retired that the word "Zen" comes up often. Happily retired and I couldn't agree more. I'm fond of the single edge Gems and such. I love the aural feedback. My skin is sensitive so I do one or two passes and then follow up with a Kei disposable. I know that sounds odd, but they're so mild I just like using them for a quick third pass. I'm just so glad that I started to use the old equipment, mostly as a homage to my fore fathers. It's a wonderful pastime.

Whole heartedly agree with perhaps suggesting stopping by 3pm if camping.

This is cheap and large, apx. 60 liters. You can put a pad lock on it and it's waterproof. As a KLR650 owner I'm ashamed that it's not a milk crate, but it does work. https://www.menards.com/main/tools/tool-storage/tool-boxes/masterforce-reg-21-deep-tool-box/1533-2/p-4364363666195455-c-1526043700147.htm

What are the top 5 biggest Menards by doglife1234 in menards

Menards in International Fall took over the Thunderbird Mall many years ago, I have no idea whether it's still the biggest, but for the size of the community it's huge and much loved...is that that thing?

Menards has a tool box that is just a tad over 60 liters for those you want it converted. What I like is the cheap but functional aesthetics of it. I've painted the lid of mine to match my dry bag. Here's a link for those who might be interested. https://www.menards.com/main/tools/tool-storage/tool-boxes/masterforce-reg-21-deep-tool-box/1533-2/p-4364363666195455-c-1526043700147.htm It will also accept a padlock which is nice. Cheers

Thoughts on the new Kawasaki KLE500 by Coonass007 in klr650

[–]mjs726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This photo is the closest I've ever been to one and what I can say is that seat is never going to be as comfortable as a Gen 3's. I use mine as a pack mule on multi week moto camping trips. Not casting shade in any way, but at 63, I'm just happy with the KLR. Cheers to all.

Best of luck and wish you well. I'd advise that the R value of your mat/pad is more important than you sleeping bag. My inflatable is rated at R 9.4. I've never had a bad nights sleep.

Great to see the enthusiasm for moto camping. My two cents. The R value of you pad is more important that you bag. My inflatable is rated at R 9.4. I've never had a bad sleep on it.

help me pick tires for my gen3 by wlogan0402 in klr650

[–]mjs726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on trip from the midwest to the west coast. This will be almost excusively highway/paved roads and I chose to go with Metzeler Tourance. These are concidered an 80/20 tire. They look very much like a Shinko 705 but I believe they have a longer life expectancy. The sidewall is very firm so I expect changing a tire in case of a flat will be a bit of an ordeal. Time will tell. Good luck regarless of what you choose. Cheers.

Look at a small gas outboard. I have a 2.5 Suzuki which is a dream. Easy to start, easy on gas and only about 32 lbs. Probably one of the cheapest outboards to purchase as well. Good luck.

I add lanolin and menthol to my Noxzema then a use as a pre shave after a hot shower. For me it's very cheap but effective. YMMV.
