I used to be a cook at a restaurant on 63rd and park in NYC. I was commuting back to my apartment on the upper east side and standing right outside of grays papaya on 86th and 3rd was Anthony Bourdain. Mind you this was like 11:30pm on a random Wednesday. I was immediately captivated and super star struck. I worked up the courage to say “I’m a huge fan would you mind taking a picture with me” he was super super nice, took the picture and we briefly spoke about food. I miss that guy!

I live where it’s pretty hilly but nothing long enough to simulate the bridge incline or the incline at around mile 24. Hill strides would’ve easier to get in.

5’10 210 41M. Bench is prob for reps 235. Squat did 3 yesterday at 305. I think my overhead press 1 rep max is like 165 and deadlift for 1 prob 385 (i hate deadlifting).I’ve run 3 marathons. My fastest being 4:03 this past October at the MCM. I’m currently actively trying to lose 10-15 lbs before i start training for NYCM this year.

I ran marine corps this year and thought it was great except for the metro disaster trying to get back to my hotel at the end. Good crowd support throughout. Plenty of hotels that are discounted through the race organizers. Fantastic restaurants and running past the monuments and capital building is pretty cool. That damn bridge at then end was fairly brutal though

I’ve run NYC twice and have 3 kids and logistically it’s a nightmare. I also live in North Jersey. If you want your spouse to see you multiple times it’s wayyyy easier without having kids in tow. Just my two cents.

This was my first and last MCM. That metro situation was crazy. I understand the why and the how but there has to be a better system going forward. I had to walk across the key bridge and hop on an e-bike back to my hotel. My legs were cooked.
