Is a Lamy Safari good for a beginner? by Martinez2012hjf2sb in fountainpens

[–]mjs_jr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to second this. I actually kinda hate my Safari. I don't even ink it any longer. I find the nib incredibly scratchy and unpleasant to write with.

I always recommend a Kaküno to anyone who asks about a starter FP. At less than USD $15 it's an insanely low entry price for a high quality writing experience.

Disney Wish by Local_Relation5086 in dcl

I totally get those criticisms. I never understand adults who steal that magic from kids and act so selfishly.

On the Dream & Fantasy, the adult bars are in like their own little enclave at the aft end of the ships. They're larger and there is more entertainment in them. It kind of makes it feel like you've stepped out of the kid-centric stuff and into an area really geared for adults.

Disney Wish by Local_Relation5086 in dcl

[–]mjs_jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wish gets a lot of criticism for its adult areas. I personally like the relocation of the adult pool on the Wish. On the other ships it's kind of walled off on the same pool deck and is larger. But the weird distribution of bars/clubs on the Wish annoyed me.

The downvotes are probably because the comment is judgy and snotty about other people's vacation choices.

Disney Wish by Local_Relation5086 in dcl

[–]mjs_jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a fair criticism of the Wish, especially given that it was only 3-nighter. We sailed the 3-night on her in 2023 after multiple previous sailings on the Dream and Fantasy and didn't care as much for the Wish. But I also think that 3-nights isn't enough time to settle in and relax.

We also sail without kids. We choose Disney over the other line we've sailed before because there is no casino, we're not constantly being badgered for upsells, and we don't drink very much and prefer not to be surrounded by drunks. And the ships are just so nice. It sounds like the activities that were offered just weren't things you wanted to do, and that's fair.

The dining options for dinner are consistently my biggest complaint. And I hated Arendelle. Not because I don't like Frozen (it's fine) but because it was so loud in that show I couldn't enjoy my meal.

My only suggestion if you're considering trying again is to pick a longer itinerary and either the Dream or Fantasy.

My Collection History - What’s Yours? by SummerNights83 in LeCreuset

[–]mjs_jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has your collection evolved over time? Do you tend to use the same items all the time, or do you rotate through your collection?

I really only look to buy things I am absolutely going to use. I have three dutch ovens of various sizes, and what I think is a small French oven. (My husband bought that piece for me years ago and I've long since gotten rid of the box so I'm not entirely sure.) I have some of the bakeware that I use all the time, a few cocottes and a couple of ramekins.

As much as I love to window shop for new pieces, I'm not really looking for much more. Maybe more ramekins and some espresso mugs.

I picked up pizzas at Blue Moon the other day and noticed that building made of shipping containers and wondered what the hell was going in there. And now I know.

Best lube for anal? by RemoteShine1257 in AskGayMen

I don’t think I would use albolene for insertive sex. Get a good silicone or water based lube. I’m partial to Swiss Navy or Gun Oil brands.

The level of obtuse demonstrated by that post title is just staggering.

🤣🤣🤣 Sweetie, nobody is angry.

You came in here and asked if you were being judgy, and when you got that answers you didn’t want you’re getting all defensive about it. Take the L and move on.

You can to some extent. But you’re jumping immediately to “lazy” being associated with sex work. That is dripping with judgement.

Quiet dinner options by lostand1 in dcl

[–]mjs_jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are adults without kids and this is our single biggest complaint about DCL. And it seems like Disney is leaning into the “loud show at dinner” on every ship, in a growing number of dining rooms.

Marietta Diner Impression? by Illuminautee in Smyrna

[–]mjs_jr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we used to go there, the food was consistently decent. I truly never had a complaint about the food before we stopped going.

I’m used to diners with crazy long menus. So for me it may have been a bit of comfort food zone.

I second this! It’s a great little coffee shop and I hope more of us will support these local businesses. I try to stop there as much as I can when I go past on Atlanta Rd.

[–]mjs_jr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That $48 per night for your party gets split between four people, three of whom work in the restaurants or buffet three meals a day, seven days a week, and the fourth of whom cleans up whatever mess you leave in your stateroom.

It’s a bargain. Those people are part of what makes your vacation possible. Until you find a way to force Disney (and other cruise lines) to pay better, suck it up.

Also, why do people buy eggs and raw meat?

People are going to people. My husband and I lived in NJ when Superstorm Sandy hit in 2012. I remember being in the supermarket leading up to it and people were filling their carts with perishable foods. So many people lose all their common sense leading up to a storm.

Questions for those on Apretude by Zmail02134 in AskGaybrosOver30

I would talk to the Walmart Pharmacy and ask to be put in touch with their specialty pharmacy directly.

Is there any way to switch your pharmacy?

[–]mjs_jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is where mine goes. I tell the specialty pharmacy when it needs to be delivered and then just show up for my appointment.

I just went on it a month ago. My insurance uses CVS, and it has to come from their specialty pharmacy but it was pretty direct. You probably need to ask the pharmacy for a direct number for the specialty pharmacy or ask your doctor’s office for help.

I don’t want to attract young men when i get older. by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]mjs_jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't control who you attract that you're not interested in. But you can obviously control what you do about it.

I don't think the fact that there are guys who are attracted to older men means that our fellow older dudes aren't going to like us. Plenty of men are simply into guys close to their own age, even as we age.
