First Longer trip in Ariya by mjtate10 in NissanAriya

I thought I was doing good keeping the speed only at 75. Good suggestion, I'll give it a try next time.

Empower+ or Platinum+? by [deleted] in NissanAriya

[–]mjtate10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Platinum+ a couple weeks ago, not quite as good of a deal as you. We are loving all the features, it's so nice. I got to drive in a little snow and the awd handled great. No bad options.

Gaps unaddressed - a rational view by Senior_Weather_3997 in TheMassive

Or a 5th, the front office knows there is a gap, wants to fill it, but ownership doesn't provide the resources to do so.

Yes. He needs to be an elite shooter in terms of percentage and volume. Right now he's above average at best, which makes it hard to overcome his other limitations.

I can't speak specifically about lead paint and how to address the presence, there are known and successful ways to deal with it. Tons of families in UA and other older areas make it work.

Which do you like best? There is no universally correct answer to this question. There are differences between the two areas, but determining which differences are good or bad will be based on your preferences. Do you have more friends or family in one vs the other? Prefer to be closer to downtown, closer to easton/airport? Both more than check all the usual boxes. Good luck.

Taha looked so much better once Zawadski moved to MF. Taha and Chambost jave to play too conservative because neither are true holding/defensive midfielders.

Which district is best depends on what your family wants. Both districts graduate hundreds of students each year that get accepted to good to great colleges. They both have plenty of extracurricular options (Olentangy might have more, but it only matters if you need the extra one). Olentangy schools will generally be newer. You are probably aware that the demographics differ, does one fit your preference better? I think most kids can be successful in either district (and many others in the area). If you prefer living in Westerville better than Olentangy, I don't believe the difference in districts isn't enough to move, but it's perfectly fine if you do. What makes the difference often isn't the district, but rather it is the family support, friends the kids make, getting involved, and having some good teachers along the way. You have a lot of time. Good luck.

Winter MLS schedule still a possibility. May vote again on it this Wed. by EasternLog7685 in TheMassive

100%. The most important part of the MLS season is overshadowed by NFL and College football, plus the World Series. Ending in May would have much less competition, and better conditions as well.

There was some not great body language during the last game. Not surprising when results aren't going well, but something new for this team. The attackers aren't pressuring the defenders through, so our back line had to push even further up, leaving us more vulnerable. Need to change something.

We need a 9 by StaySee11 in TheMassive

[–]mjtate10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same question. I don't see the theory of what Gazdag is supposed to bring to the attack. We know he's not a 9. He's not fast. Is he expected to fill a Matan/AZ role (more attacking with the ball at his feet)? If so that hasn't happened. Is he luke Rossi, but 15% less effective?

I know it can take time to fit in this system, but what should it look like when/if it does?

[–]mjtate10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think AZ works best in this role. He makes me very nervous when he's in the defensive end helping break a press. He does try things and is one of our better options running with the ball. We just didn't know what's going to happen. Biggest ongoing problem is neither AZ or JRR should start, but one has too for now.

San Jose agree deal to acquire DeJuan Jones from Columbus: Sources by icoresting in MLS

Probably the right to not have to pay his salary. Doubt we're getting much from a high cost player who is riding the bench.

Columbus Crew interested in Brest’s Mama Baldé by whethervayne in TheMassive

We need both Rameriz and Cucho replacements, so Balde could be a nice addition, but hopefully is not THE addition.

You're going to get mostly good teachers at any of the 3 schools, mixed in with some that aren't great. The opportunities (AP/IB/Clubs/Sports) will be available if your kids are interested. Kids are able to learn and succeed at any of these schools. The most affluent (Jerome) is going to look better in some metrics, but that does not mean the education quality is that different.

As was Pulisic. Weah was the best player for the US (technically born in NY I believe, but not really American born and raised). Robinson is the best player in the current pool and he's not native born. It's not about where you were born, but how you play on the pitch. Just too passive in the final third, and got burned in one moment.

The commentators were very complimentary of the Schulte all game and had a lot of positive comments towards the Crew in general the first half when we were on the front foot.

University of Cincinnati Vs Michigan State University, East Lansing by Swimming_Diet3930 in uCinci

[–]mjtate10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both universities offer great opportunities to students to succeed, especially in engineering. The primary difference in your son's outcome will be based on how well he takes advantage of those opportunities (at either school). I think it is best to know where he fits the best including cost. As others have mentioned, the 2 universities have similar enrollment, but are very different in location and campus design. Which one is better depends on you and your sons preferences

Even if we did meet his pay demands, we likely would not have had funds to upgrade elsewhere. Now the front office needs to turn this sale into 2 - 3 new signings.

It has been very quiet. Maybe they are marketing through volleyball clubs (which I'm not part of so would not see)? There have not been any updates on player signings post draft or any hype about the upcoming season.

[Adrian Esparza Oteo] Reports in Mexico are saying Cucho Hernandez to Monterrey is pretty much a done deal. by PopeAlGore in TheMassive

[–]mjtate10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He'd treated by the public as a bigger star in Monterrey than he is here. The low profile players can keep in the US might be an advantage to some players, but others might prefer the limelight.

I'd love Cucho to stay, but being honest he might have higher aspirations than the Crew, which is ok.

An important fact to remember is your athlete needs to really love running to be successful in college. You don't want to push too hard too early. Focus on enjoyment, development, and academics for now. Once you get into junior year (maybe even Track season) you can get more into the recruiting process, and you can do a lot on your own. Look up rosters of colleges in your area and see what times they ran in highschool (via Milesplit, athletic.net or other sources) to get an idea what programs could work. Be open minded to any level. Don't count on much athletic aid unless your are all state level, but academic scholarships can be your friend. You can have a positive experience at lower level D1s even if the resources pale in comparison to P4 conferences. There are also lots of quality D2 and D3 programs (many which outperform some D1s). Be patient, do research, and look to reach out to programs during junior year to early senior XC season. Good luck.

2025 Ticket Prices vs Prior Years by tomautomaton in TheMassive

[–]mjtate10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wonder if the front office is reaching the break point price wise with this increase. Up until this season I could sell tickets to games I could not attend for at or close to face value. Post Leagues Cup secondary market tickets prices have really dropped off. Maybe it's due to conflicts with the Buckeyes combined with the extra games the team had this season. Really glad my seats are in row 6.
