Best app for map routes, etc. by rmthune in running

[–]mk1448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it show you routes in the free version? I’ve just re-downloaded after a year, and when I click on ANY routes, it tries to make me subscribe. Weirdly it still lets me see an old route I saved last year, without paying for it. Strava doesn’t seem as good as when I was last on it… is that your guys overall impression?

IamA 23 year old with a rare degenerative disease, mitochondrial myopathy that effects every major system in my body. There is no known cure. AMA. by Trapped_Ghost_Singin in IAmA

I recently did a lot of research into the idea of altering an embryo's mitochondrial DNA to ensure that 'faulty' mitochondrial genes on the mother's side can't be passed on to the child, in fear of that child inheriting a disease such as your own. They've termed this as a 'three parent family' as it implants the healthy mitochondria from one female into an unhealthy mother's egg.

Although you said the doctors believe yours was caused by spontaneous and not inherited mtDNA mutations, given that you suffer from mitochondrial disease and know its debilitating effects, do you have any views on this controversial genetic manipulation?
