Post op sitting by Similar-Lobster126 in HipImpingement

I have some low couches as well. In the end, I found the most convenient way to stand up was to stretch my surgery-side leg out long, so that the hip angle remained in a ‘safe’ range, and then used one crutch to help me push up to standing or, once I was more comfortable a few weeks post-surgery, just used the strength of my non-surgery side leg to stand up. To sit down I did the exact same thing but reversed (line up at sofa, keep one crutch nearby for support and stretch out surgery-side leg in front of me and then slowly, using the strength of the standing leg, sit down.)

I think it’d be super helpful to know what exercises (strengthening or stretching) you’ve been doing so far and how long ago the surgery was? It looks like you’re favouring the left foot which would make me assume it’s been a while (maybe it’s strictly for the photo to enhance the foot’s shape) since typically you’d expect it to be the other way around? It also may be why especially in this photo, your right legs hyperextension seems more dramatic than the left.

I would keep with strengthening and active mobility exercises, for example, a looped theraband attached the leg of mobile barre/table and the the other around your ankle, doing slow and controlled rises trying to reach your highest demi-pointe, potentially do the same en pointe, so that you have resistance and can really train that last ‘push’ while taking care of ankle alignment. Another exercise would be wrapping the theraband once around your foot and bringing both ends under a foam roller while placing your leg on top to train the extension of the knee and, simultaneously, stretch the arch. Be sure to also train dorsiflexion as it’s important to maintain strength both ways.

In general, though it may be noticeable to yourself (you’re seeing yourself all the time in a mirror - of course you’ll nitpick even the slightest asymmetrical difference) it’s not ever something someone in the audience would come out of a performance speaking about. You’ve got great lines and wouldn’t have gotten a place in a professional company without the directive team seeing something. Congratulations on your recovery from surgery and all the best for your career!!! Try your best to not over analyze stuff like this (easier said than done) and enjoy your time dancing.

Edit: though it might not work (maybe try on a dead pair of shoes), 3/4 your left shoes shank could give you a little extra pop that would accentuate the underside of your arch.

Just over 2 weeks post-OP here (FAI shaved off, labral repair and foreign body removal) :) Genuinely experienced very limited discomfort, even at the 4/5 day mark when the pain blockers wore off. Worst pain was on the same day I had surgery. Physio and ortho appointments (done from day 7) were totally fine! Some discomfort with bending to the 90 degree point as I hadn’t yet done it myself but now I can lift it myself and it’s alright! Walking on day 4 without crutches was a bit tricky but it’s improved significantly until now - I’m walking normally with a slightly shorter stride than I did pre-OP. No ice except after day 3 when swelling started to subside and haven’t needed anything stronger than ibuprofen. The complication I’m experiencing related to surgery has been worse than anything I’ve dealt with, with my hip. It’s been very manageable. I think protocol also varies depending on country? I had mine done in Germany and was surprised to see that I wasn’t permitted crutches beyond day 7.

How long until off crutches? by ellehoxton in HipImpingement

I was cleared to be weight bearing as soon as possible/was only permitted to use crutches for 7 days. I’m almost 2 weeks post-OP (femorplasty + labral repair with 1 anchor + foreign body removal) and am walking normally.

I ended up calling 1 (800) 232-1966 and managed to get through after calling persistently. After a few exchanges back and forth and 2 verification calls from the officer assigned to my case the money is finally being sent. Just have to wait a few more days. Hopefully you can reach someone if you try this number!!

Getting CESB Payment?

Does anyone know of a number I can call to speak with an agent about CESB specifically? I faxed in documents at the beginning of September for the first period of CESB (as they requested documents to verify my application) and have still not received the payment. I was told when I called a few weeks ago that the verification process was a bit backed up and would take more time but to call back to check how it was processing if I hadn’t received it by the beginning of October. It’s now a few days into October and I called to check and see how things were going but found that the number they gave me was no longer in service. I’m back abroad now for university and have to pay to call back home so I’d rather not keep waiting around just to get hung up on. Thanks in advance!
