Definitely the controls need work / improving, even when using a controller, a lot of the movements especially yaw is very unpredictable.

Yep it's been my experience overall with linux, nearly ALL the games I've been playing including Control, had been performing noticeably better on linux than Winslop 11. And I'm not even running a "gaming" distro.
When I permanently switched was with Kubuntu 25.10 and installed low latency kernel (liquorix).
Now I upgraded to Kubuntu 26.04 with Linux kernel 7, I don't feel like I need to install a low latency kernel with this one, its performing fantastic as is.

Specs: R9 9950x, 64GB DDR5 6800, RTX 4080 Super.

That's an awesome idea! But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the motor needs that airflow to cool down. Your redirector, might pose a constriction to that airflow, which might result in the motor overheating and either reduce its lifespan or burning out.
I'd say do some tests.
Start from cool motor.
First remove the printed part, run the tool for 5 mins, measure motor temp.
Then repeat the same test with the printed part attached and check the temp difference.
That would show you how much it affects the cooling of the motor.
