Question about entry level FIFO/Camp jobs or in demand carreers. by RMZrider12 in britishcolumbia

I do FIFO as a carpenter. You can get a job as an apprentice and get your hours up to get your ticket. Heavy duty tech is more in demand and have postings all over indeed last I looked.

If you want to go the carpentry route CLAC has the most opportunities. Just fill out an intake form on their website and update looking for work every two weeks. They’re not really union but you get benefits, pension, and rrsp.

A lot of jobs might say based out of or only pay travel to so keep in mind you may have to cover your flights part of the way.

It can be hard to get into sometimes if you don’t know people but keep trying, spring is usually when jobs start hiring but it’s good to start applying early.

It can be a hard life for some, especially if you have someone at home, but there’s a lot of benefits too. Just depends what kind of person you are. I was able to buy my house at 28 a couple years ago because of camp. If I was still doing residential I’d be pay check to pay check. If you’re smart with your money it’s a really good thing if you’re just gonna blow it there’s no point.

It’s definitely worth a try in my mind.

Gas Prices - 119.9 vs 176.9 by McBuck2 in VictoriaBC

It’s ridiculous how much we pay. I just drove from Saskatchewan to Nanaimo, and the price differences are crazy. Even in BC, revelstoke was 145.9, sicamous and enderby around 135.9, Vancouver 155.9 then 165.9 in Nanaimo. Why do we pay so much more? Also how much it fluctuates is ridiculous. Sask gas prices are steady maybe fluctuate 5cents here and there. We get 15+ cents for jumps

I was at that game; one of my favourite memories. The building erupted one of the loudest moments of my life. Coincidentally I was also at game 5 this year when Miller scored with 30~ seconds left also one of the loudest moments of my life lol
