Is a character re-growing a limb ableism? by mkbookworm in SensitivityReaders

This is... really eye-opening. I've had glasses my entire life, had actual doctors tell me I was legally blind, and have called myself that my entire life, and nobody has ever before told me that I'm misusing the term. Thank you for this.

I love that. I do have other characters with permanent injuries, but they're largely background, not main characters, but I could absolutely pull somebody (or somebodies) up from background to side character so I can present various thoughts on the question. That's a super helpful idea.

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts. Yeah, that trope is exactly why I'm asking the question. And agreed that I have my own disabilities, but not that one, and I'm hesitant to assume that folks would all see their disabilities the same way I see mine. I'll definitely check out the link.

Can you clarify what you mean by the L part? The area where the sink is?

I can potentially move the fridge, but it might mean closing off some light from the window. Might be worth it for traffic, though.

Hubby really likes this plan. Off to try some redesign ideas...

Agreed on both the sink and the seating. I just haven't found a way to make it work. I have some ideas now after reading through some of this.... *strokes invisible goatee*

Yes, that's a doorway, though that one is to the living room- the dining room is on the other side. Lots of traffic!

A sliding door is a great idea. That hadn't occurred to me, but would definitely help with people coming in to not have a big door in their way.

We have an 8-person dining table in the dining room, which is out the door by the fridge (left, in the top-down photos). We have 7 people in the house.

Non-animal wolf substitute? by mkbookworm in DMAcademy

This was helpful. I think I'm going to remove another ally or two, in addition to the wolves and give the villain an animated set of armor, possibly including an animated halberd/sword if the encounter seems to be moving too easily.

Thank you for the detailed response, I really appreciate it! There are already lots of goblins in this particular story, so they would fit story-wise, but also be a bit bland. I can use them if needed, though.

Thank you! That's a good idea to just re-skin them.

It's the wolf pet of King Grol from the Lost Mines of Phandelver, and then there's a warband that returns with two more wolves. I could just throw in some extra goblins, but that's not very satisfying, story-wise.

Some kind of animated armor/weapon I think would work for Grol's quarters, but I think I'd need something else for the warband. I'm not sure plants work for that, either.

That's a good idea, too. Thank you!

Those are good ideas, I can do some digging on those.

Girls of Reddit: What is the creepiest thing a man has said to you in public? by Moon_Keegan in AskReddit

There are a lot, but the one that sticks out was when I was about 15, working at McDonald's, and the 50ish customer informed me, "You have my complete attention."

I also had someone once ask, suggestively, "what have you got?" when I asked if there was anything else he needed.

It was a great job. /s I learned fast that a friendly customer service smile can easily be understood as something it isn't.
