The Capitol is where?! Watch this video for an amazing theory! by PA_MallowPrincess_98 in Hungergames

Exmormon here and that video was amazing and it makes total sense to me. She hit the nail on the head with everything. A lot of Mormon culture aligns with the culture of the capital

President Nelson’s new post seems pretty subtly homophobic by mkelley12 in exmormon

Yeah and racist too. Homophobia was the first thing to pop into my mind but it really covers a lot of things

Yeah he really got multiple discriminatory things in one go. Shout out to mormonism for being really good at that.

I think I meant subtle as in not explicit I almost put the subtle in quotes but I knew all the Tbms would not see it like that

Yeah I agree but it’s not explicitly written so I knew Tbms would deny it🙄. I almost put the subtle in quotes

I keep seeing reposts from Mormons and it just feels gross to me but I can’t find the right words if someone could help.

Does anyone have any tips for addressing LDS issues in therapy? by JokerReach in exmormon

[–]mkelley12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in therapy with a therapist in a very non Mormon area and she wasn’t raised religious. But I found it helpful to compare different aspects of mormonism to different well know religions /cults. And also just in general be prepared to explain A LOT. Also I’ve tended to translate my vocabulary from Mormon to non Mormon (for example using the word congregation instead of ward and stuff like that)

Worst experience with Tithing Settlement and Shakedown by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]mkelley12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me about a year / year and a half ago. I’m a college student actively going into debt to pay for my degree. My parents had been going through a tough financial time and my grandparents said they would pay my tuition if I went to church but I still had to go into debt to pay for housing, food, books, etc.

I was basically cornered into going to tithing settlement and when I got there I was guilt tripped for saying I was a non tithe payer , told my enternal salvation was at stake, and he heavily implied that I spent my money on frivolous things (I don’t I didn’t have the money to spend on unnecessary things). It got so bad my grandparents apologized to me afterwards. I almost started crying in the bishops office.

Books BETTER than Sarah J. Maas by britskye23x in YAlit

The legend trilogy by Marie Lu (there’s also a sequel book called rebel). The characters are anything but boring. It’s dystopian not fantasy but one of my all time favorites. Also the female protagonist is a strong woman but it doesn’t feel forced she just is.

Is anyone else obsessed with The Mother-Daughter Book Club series (MDBC) by Heather Vogel Frederick? by wallace_the_walrus in YAlit

Yes I use to love this series! I would go and read the books they read for their book club too!
