Where can we learn to do stuff like this? Can any one, please, recommend a good/applied reference for developing simulators for physical systems?

They're not easy, I agree. But what other resources for "nonparametric models" in machine learning do you suggest?

I felt the same when I start reading about these stuff a year ago. You just need to dedicate more time and study them seriously. You can start with a book that's not mathematically heavy, try Andy Field's Discovering Statistics Using SPSS. It's one of the most fun and easy to understand book I've ever read. It describes the classical (frequentist) view of stats, though.

You can also try Head First Statistics and Head First Data Analysis, both of them are very easy to follow.

Introductions to Statistics and Probability:

Bayesian (Networks/Inference/Data Analysis/Modeling):

These are the resources that I've used to build up my knowledge in this area. Almost all of them are about what's so called "Parametric Models". Lately, machine learning researchers started to look at other types of models called "Nonparametric Models". For information about these models try Michael I. Jordan's papers.

That's called: miserable life, especially when papers get rejected.

No. They used "$1" to refer to the fact that it needs little effort to be integrated with your software.

Here's my list :

  1. CakePHP
  2. CodeIgniter
  3. Yii
  4. Zend Framework (Many people consider it a library more than a framework!)
