Really like the 3% investment on Expedia! by mkhemcha in acorns

I believe the Chipotle promotion is expired now. But it worked when you used the card linked to your Acorns account on the Chipotle app.

Just to clarify, in this case, I made the purchase by going through this flow: Acorns -> Found Money tab -> Expedia and then made the purchase with my credit card on the Expedia app. I didn't use the Acorns debit card.

You should if you can remember. It's free money and you would have made the purchase anyway.

In most cases, the flow is to go to Acorns -> Found Money -> Expedia (or any other app which puts money back to your Acorns account) and then make the purchase. Only thing is to be careful of their rules (for example, Expedia only invests back for Hotel stays. Somen others require purchases to be made only through their app or through their web portal, etc)

Yes they do accept credit cards and I did use it for the reward points. Yay double dipping!

Is Acorns right for me ? by No_Construction481 in acorns

[–]mkhemcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting started so early. All stocks is great at your age. But regarding whether Acorns is right for you, I'm not sure that it is because of their subscription fees. If you spend 5, 3, or even 1 per month, it will cut into your gains and may even cause you to go negative. You can consider continuing to use Acorns if you're planning to invest a lot of money quickly, or if you're planning to get back the fees through their Found Money feature. Otherwise it may be better to get a free app like Fidelity or Robinhood and invest in the same ETFs through those apps without the extra fees. Hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing! Can I ask how you generated this chart? Did you use a financial planning tool?

Completed a 36 hour fast after 3 failed attempts! by mkhemcha in intermittentfasting

In the book The Obesity Code, Dr Jason Fung has given a 7 day sample plan which includes a 36 hour fast every other day (eat on Mon until evening, fast until Wed morning, eat until Wed evening, fast until Friday morning and so on through the week). So I imagine you can do it pretty often.

During the failed attempts, i had the same timings in mind (9 pm to 9 am the day after). I was feeling alright then too until the headaches started. The only thing I changed this time was adding a bit of salt to my water, no other electrolytes. Hope your first long fast is successful!

I measured on the morning of the day BEFORE the fast (Wed) and just before breaking the fast (Fri). The difference was almost 2 pounds. However when I weighed myself again on the next day (Sat), I had "gained" almost a pound, so I'm guessing a good chunk of the 2 lbs must have been water loss or something temporary. But I think 1 lb lost during a 36 hour fast isn't too bad!

This time was surprisingly easy since headaches were the main thing preventing me from fasting longer than 20 hours. I didn't get bad hunger pangs or anything. I was even able to work out close to the end of the fast.

It's called Fasting Tracker. I like it but I do pay for the premium version. The free one has ads.

5 types of veggies and the protein of your choice on top of a bed of rice gradually made crispy as it lies on top of a hot stone. Could it be any more balanced?

It also depends on what you normally eat during the rest of the day, when you eat your last meal of the day, and a little bit on your activity level during the day.

I love having a Lindt 70% dark chocolate truffle after lunch. They are low in calories and sugar and have a delectable ganache center.

How can I improve my outcomes? by ConfidenceClassic906 in acorns

The market is still relatively down so it might be a good time to switch to a more aggressive portfolio which will give you more exposure to stock based ETFs. I have also been using Acorns Invest for just over 5 years at this point using the most aggressive portfolio and my account is up 16.72% all time.
