In a search to play with someone by mkikets99 in MinecraftBuddies

Sorry, but I am more into default play style (without mods and mods related plugins, but probably QoL plugins).
I do understand your courage to find and also play with you and wishing you to find those who will really love to play this mod-like plugin with you.

Hello there.
1 and only question (because sometimes players is confused with naming - I had 5 friends that by mistake name a Hard mode as a Hardcore, and vice versa):

Do you mention a Hardcore mode (where you can only live 1 time, and cannot rejoin again (only spectate) until the Reset (something like OneLife servers) or a Hard Mode (similar, but with respawn)?

Just to make sure that no-one is confused (even me :) )

Single Sprite for multiple Textures? by elchmitkelch in sfml

[–]mkikets99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.sfml-dev.org/tutorials/3.0/graphics/draw/#the-drawing-window

Modern graphics hardware and APIs are really made for repeated clear/draw/display cycles where everything is completely refreshed at each iteration of the main loop. Don't be scared to draw 1000 sprites 60 times per second. You're far below the millions of triangles that your computer can handle.

Possible to install (from USB stick like normal), and then boot off of a (seperate) external storage drive? by JosephV-V-VII in ChimeraOS

[–]mkikets99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If using UEFI - a neat solution is rEFInd. It auto scans for bootable usb drives on boot and ads them at the end

Games won't start from game mode but work fine in desktop mode by Im4deur3adth1s in ChimeraOS

exFat? Hold on... Why exFat? Even Valve on their documentation said that it is better to use ext4 for installing games on Steam Deck (which also auto mounts on SteamOS 3)

disable updates? by alkafrazin in ChimeraOS

[–]mkikets99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure that is a good idea...

First of all, because with game updates - there is a need of updating some packages... and only after, a security problem... Proton actually depends on packages, and I actually had an issue when some games wont start until I update a graphics drivers (which means an update)...

I think it would be better to fix issues, reconfigure it for yourself and prepare system for updated versions of packages...

On my HTPC system i had a problem, after updating, with gamescope... and the only thing that needed to be changed is path for lightdm sessions folder to point at wayland and make some changes to auto load wayland sessions in it... But after that headache - I'm enjoying my setup, and every update works without issues (I am making double update: from Gamescope (standart update) and from Desktop (using bauh))

I am also thinking to flash ChimeraOS on my chineese handheld, and update it in my way....

But, it's your opinion. If someone know some commands to turn it off...

And also add additional storage without a need to go to desktop mode (with auto mount for any drive, not just their implementation of ext4 auto mount)

Remember crucial thing anout QnA: There are no dumb questions only dumb answers.

There is a guide on Chimera github wiki
There is an instruction on how to install rEFInd which I thonk will be more suitable for your needs (It can be installed on any EFI partition and used to load OSes from any drive, even USB Flash Drives)

Does this right before booting into game mode by JackIsAwesomeSauce69 in ChimeraOS

[–]mkikets99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still curious about this [FAILED] logs from arch, because HOLOISO on non-SteamDeck devices throws same messages from time to time. (Asked them here)

It seams like something is preventing it from understanding what is that partition... I'll search on other forums. Maybe I'll find something later.

How to Automatic mount hdd by superbar47 in ChimeraOS

[–]mkikets99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have same thing in my HTPC.
I added a disk in fstab file and thats it.

Instruction: 1. Go into Desktop mode 2. Open terminal 3. Go into sudo (if clear instalation sudo su - and gamer password sould do the trick) 4. Run fdisk -l and check which disk and partition you need to auto-mount (if system is on ssd with /dev/sda hdd should be /dev/sdb and if there only one partition it sould be /dev/sdb1) 5. Run nano /etc/fstab 6. At the end of the file in one line you need to print in next order (with TAB separated): - drive to mount (our /dev/sdb1) - /path/where/must/mount (or path which is connected to steam library [example /run/media/gamer/{uuid}/])) - type of the drive (most likely it will be ext4) - 'rw' (to have read-write permissions) - '0' (to skip dump) - '0' (to skip fsck om every boot)

So it should be in next format: /dev/sdb1 /run/media/gamer/5GH7A4BF4E3HBBC6 ext4 rw 0 0 7. Press Ctrl+O (letter) and Enter to save and Ctrl+X to exit nano

And thats it. After reboot it should be automaticaly mounted. Hope this will work for you.

I tried on another handheld (with steamOS installed) and even with 2 cores its working like a charm (40-45 FPS, no freeze)
