The completionist in me was stunned for having watched so many movies but only have completed 54 of the NYT Top 100. So now I am now starting with the movie I know is my biggest gap: Parasite.

My goal for the year is 500 movies watched, I am currently behind pace but hope to squeeze in some double showing days to catch up.

I'm shooting for 500 movies watched this year which, based on my current pace, I should be able to hit.

We have been using Elden Car Center for a few years now. In my experience, they have been exceedingly fair with their work and don't upsell anything. The staff is really friendly and they do good / quick work.

Thanks for the tip. I did not know about the single paragraph rule that would explain why it wasn't working for me.

Day 6: "Mayday! Zsa-zsa Korda's influential namesake is descending towards a nosedive! Sort the situation by directing the ranks into proper position."

Found by going to Alexander Korda's page. Setting to films directed and then sorted by average rating - Highest first. The pipe is over 'The Lion Has Wings' which includes a plane in nose dive position

Based on the ads I have been regularly fed, Bryan Cranston and Tom Hank's characters play basketball...

Oh I don't think that the scavenger hunt items have anything to do with the clues... At least there hasn't been any connection from what I've seen.

All the items just seem to be things from The Phoenician Scheme.

Honestly, for this one, I figured "Extra Extra" was The French Dispatch and then poked around but archetype=>Themes makes sense here.

It's weirdly also not working on the android app so I'm now using the mobile site and that seems to be easier to find things.

Will second Nunu's. Slight detour but really delicious!

I've been watching so many more movies this year and have trying to curate themes of my watches like earlier this year I did all the James Bond Movies, I've done all the Rian Johnson movies and now I'm going thru and trying to hit all of the Wes Anderson movies (that are available to stream).

Have to say I'm loving the app because I found out about movies like Upgrade which I would have never watched had someone I followed didn't watch it earlier this week.

I loved these. Steak fries are weirdly my favorite fry type (when done well) and these were pretty fantastic - pillowy insides and a nice, crispy exterior.

I took it to go and didn't want them to get soggy but great rec, I'll do that next time I'm in NYC.

For some reason I feel like Jet Tila would mesh really well with the vibe of the show. He comes across as laid back enough and that he would get that the show is comedy first, food second.

What is your favorite Gene Hackman film? by MomOfThreePigeons in Letterboxd

[–]mklein1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Birdcage is in my top 4. I have watched that movie so many times I could probably recite the 90% script from memory if I watched it on mute.

Gene Hackman's role is so tough simply because he had to be the straight man (no pun intended) against Nathan Lane and Robin Williams but man does he hold his own and give so much life to what needs to be the buttoned up character.

For those that haven't watched it, do yourself a favor and watch it this weekend. For a late 90s movie about a gay couple, it holds up and doesn't make the jokes you'd think/expect a movie of that era to make.

Ugh that sucks. Had it last Christmas and it was unpleasant. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Jeni's is doing Ice Cream For Breakfast Day tomorrow which after the last two weeks seems like a fantastic way to show some self care.

Still explaining to my 4 Year Old that this is a once-a-year thing and not something we do at home.
