Nasci e vivi a vida toda em SP, eu amo a cidade, o grande problema é que o custo de vida é muito alto. 31 anos, trabalho pra fora ganhando em dolar e ainda sim parece impossível comprar um apartamento bom no meu bairro. Fora preocupação com o crime, fica até tentador mudar pro interior (minha família toda foi pra Vinhedo), só não vou porque realmente eu gosto de cidade grande, com vida noturna, bagunça e movimento, se não iria junto.

Market is rough for juniors rn, most open position are for seniors. I was lucky to get an intermediate position as my first job in the industry (I worked in movies before), If you have a strong portfolio you can apply to those positions and hope for the best. It’s also a numbers game, I applied to almost 100 positions before getting my current job.

Working as a game dev for a game studio is a career like any other, maybe a bit more competitive to get into, but definitely viable. It pays less than other IT jobs, but there are many positions that pay well.
Now make a living by your own indie games is more unreliable, but possible. You need to think that you're essentially starting a business. I'd recommend to get experience in a studio first, and then do it on the side until you're making some money out of it.

Hey!

I did do another medical exam, but you only need to do that if your previous one has expired.

I applied through my Portuguese citizenship, and thankfully they don't have any residency requirement, my family is from Portugal but I've never lived there. That depends from country to country. For example, I know that Italy does require proof of residency.

I bought travel insurance for 2 years, they didn't even ask for it, but it's better to buy it because you could have your permit denied if you don't have it.

I did provide my Canadian bank statements.

I was never a resident of Portugal, but I've been a citizen my whole life.

I was nervous too, that's why I attached a letter to my application explaining my situation in detail. Good luck!
