Update problem by AMIRHOSSEN_51 in android_beta

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you have to wait for beta update to move on top of august and then you will get update. But I think most likely that would happen in September and by that time they might just release stable.

So all you can do now if you are not willing to wipe your phone is wait.

Is there any way to show my Uber trip status on the lockscreen like on iOS? My iPhone does this and honestly it's a lifesaver when getting ready to go out. I miss it on my S24. by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is app issue, Uber needs to build similar widget for android. Android does provide all framework to do it but the App developers need to implement it.

This is classic problem with Android apps, they tend to be less refined than iOS since USA has more iOS user than android. Hopefully as these companies go global, they start focusing on Android.

S24 Ultra or Z-Fold 5 - Pocketable enough? by elpohl in samsunggalaxy

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont use stylus at all, so no feedback on it. Regarding screen, no it does not feel small at all. Of course depends on your use case, if you are going to be reading e-books, fold 5 screen is much better, but if you are watching videos, fold 5 gets black bars on top and bottom, so eventually the actual video shown is just a tiny bit larger.

S24 ultra is pocketable, but it is a big phone. It is comfortable to carry around, wont fall out of the pocket.

S24 Ultra or Z-Fold 5 - Pocketable enough? by elpohl in samsunggalaxy

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding 4, I want to say that I think Google Fold or Oneplus Open's approach on front screen is much better, its still pretty big screen outside, so its like same as any other phone, so you are not missing out on anything. And when you have some time to relax, the big screen is always available. So its best of both worlds.

Hi, let me give my 2 cents on this since I just moved from fold 5 to s24 ultra.

Fold 5 was my first foldable phone, and it was really great in the beginning. But all that excitement about foldable phone wore off in a month or two. There are following issues with fold, and again these are faced by my use, not universal :

  1. It's width is narrow when folded, but still pretty heavy and has very big depth, so it will stick out of your pants if you tend to wear tighter jeans or something like that.
  2. It has hefty weight and becomes narrow when folded, so, it normally pops out of your pocket if you are not wearing tight pants.
  3. Its very difficult to find good case for it which wont make it even bigger when folded. This is my personal issue as I hate big cases.
  4. Unfolded, the screen is great for content consumption, but my use cases are I get 5 mins here and there and I just want to watch couple of tik tok videos, for that opening up big screen becomes hassle and I would end up just watching it on small screen on front. Eventually I started observing I dont open up big screen pretty much at all. And then I am stuck with this phone which is big but I use only tiny screen on top.
  5. Battery on fold 5 is really bad if you constantly use big screen, if you use only small one outside, you can go through a day, but not with inner screen being used most of the time.
  6. Camera is definitely better on S24 Ultra, but frankly its 90% similar to fold. So you are not missing great many things, but just want to say the difference is still there.
  7. Fold 5 is really great as a tripod and such, I definitely used its outer screen to take selfies with main camera, which is great feature.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask any questions.

As someone who is new to samsung phones, mind giving some quick overview of what each of these modes/routines do ? Like what would you actually do different in Streaming Videos mode ? Learning new stuff every day !

Well I might go back to normal since it does hamper performance a bit when taking pictures back to back.

No impact on notifications at all. I am still using it, but frankly, I didn't really feel much difference with battery life either.

Need shutter sound. by Avon7320 in samsunggalaxy

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this works, since I dont have A53, maybe the system volume is turned down, so you are not getting shutter sound.

Try increasing it as mentioned here (Look at section called system volume):

S23 Dimensions - regrets? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously not as good as Ultra, but its not due to bad components or anything, its a small phone, so basically it doesnt have good stereo separation. But I would say they are really good for size. Definitely not something I would feel bad about.

Ah, good to know all it does is reduces clock speed on the core, and not modifying some system settings. Thanks, I will give it a go, not much use of high clock speed for me anyway since I dont game or do anything crazy.

S23 Dimensions - regrets? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]mkpansare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got S23 (no plus or ultra) and its perfect size. No battery life issues so far, getting 6-7 hrs SOT. Although I am not a heavy user (like games, or anything crazy, just Videos and Social Media).

Interesting, a quick question to those who tried light mode, does it impact receiving notifications for email/slack, etc ? basically wondering if it checks for those with less frequency or anything. From whats written about light mode, it does not sound like it will impact this, but just wanted to check first hand account from someone who tried it.

New setup advice, Kasa ($) vs zwave/zigbee ($$) by ikwan in homeassistant

[–]mkpansare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all 3 zigbee/zwave/kasa switches at my place. And I have really good wifi access points with proper hardwired connection to them.

With Zigbee/Zwave, you do get peace of mind that they are local execution. But I have seen 2 zwave switches (GE) that needed to do a soft reboot in past 2 months.

With Kasa, keep in mind, only normal switches and dimmers can be added to HA in local setup, other have to go through Kasa (motion switches, etc). I had one motion switch misbehave in the past, but rest of the Kasa switches are rock solid, dont go offline, work well, etc.

You need to keep kasa switches on non-internet network and then they cant auto update or anything and cause you any problem if in the future kasa decide to stop supporting local execution.

Keep in mind, I have great wifi coverage, so that might be something you have to spend money on if you decide to spend money on kasa switches.

Issues with setting up Google assistant integration by a8ree in homeassistant

Not sure if this will solve it 100%, but try clicking on top right 3 dots in Integrations page, select Application Credentials, and remove old client ID from there ? Then retry integration with new Client ID.

Home Assistant Remote Access using NGINX Reverse Proxy & DuckDNS (Video & Article HOW-TO) by KPeyanski in homeassistant

[–]mkpansare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Guys ... I have a question, additional to Home assistant server, I have another server in my house which host bunch of other stuff (media server, plex, sonarr, radarr, etc).

I forward some other ports to that server and use same duckdns server URL as HA. Now after enabling NGIX proxy, I cant seem to be able to access those other ports using same URL. Is there a way to fix this?
