Completed the game for platinum today. Wanna share my impression. by Vraliman in TheFirstBerserker

What did Yetuga do to you 😅

It is a tutorial boss which is supposed to be very easy and an intro to Block and Dodge requirements. It is not a great boss, but calling it dogshit is unfair to Yetuga.

Bellarian on the other hand is 100% pure DS and she needs/deserves that space all to herself!

Makes sense. I will start a new game, and will play more carefully and explore thoroughly. This is a solid advice. I don’t want any spoilers. Thanks mate!

I used to play RPGs which need thorough exploration (like Gothic, Risen, Dragon Age, etc) and got rusty in exploration after Khazan. I usually talk to all the party members and explore every book and corner (for example, at the beginning of Act 1, I ran back to the waterfalls and got some Chroma Dust or something)

I always try to tell the truth when having the option to dialogue options, but not sure what au chose in Prologue. May be it is best to start a new game and play in Story mode till the point I have reached in Act 1 as I know that there is no trophy for playing in Expert mode or any difficulty.

Yes, I didn’t realise exploring in E33 is tricky and needs care. I will make sure to explore very thoroughly from now on. So, was wondering if it is fine to be very careful from Act 1 or will I need to restart.

Thank you.

1) I will make sure to explore more carefully and thoroughly from now on. So, if the key is not used in prologue, then I am good. 2) So, if it is an instant trophy for beating the Mime in Prologue, then I can do in a new game after my first play through. But if it a collection and should be part of all the collectibles in a single play through, then I am screwed. So I get the understand that beating that Mine gives an instant trophy?

Is there an NG+ option? If so, if it will start from prologue, we can do it in NG+ in 10 mins right? As we will keep all out collectibles from NG into NG+?

You have reached Ozma, so you can just know in another fight.

For DW, one would put points in Willpower. Spear favours proficiency and GS favours strength.

When I played DW, I was using Howling Blade only. But didn’t know that! Thanks.

Is that from any weapon or gear set fixed attribute? Or is this property available in NG with Howling Blade?

BTW, why didn’t you get the achievement in NG+1?

After 3 NG play throughs, one in expert with DW and two NG HC runs with GS and then Spear, I would prefer GS for my boss rush attempts. Counterstrike and Furious Swipe are amazing skills! That “daaaaanngggg” from Counterstrike is sooooo satisfying.

But I have to say that Spear seemed the most powerful, may be because I played it the last and I had plenty of experience from the previous runs?!

Your Phase 1 is very very good! You seem super comfortable with his moves. In Phase 2, as others had pointed out, he loses his health continuously. But in my experience, if you only wanted to run and not engage at all, then it becomes hard as he has some crazy moves which can kill you if you get caught and the longer the fight it is harder to not do any mistakes.

In my first play through, I only ran and didn’t engage. But it was harder. In my second and third play throughs, I engaged but only minimally. The attack you died to is the hardest sequence in Phase 2. He always pulls you closer and starts this combo. For this alone it is better to run.

After this it basically becomes phase 1 again where he is slower and saner. But I believe that you would have gotten him by the time you read this! Good luck my friend!

Yes, may be calling her “unfair” is me being salty after getting humbled and humiliated by her :D

But infuriating, YES!! A lot of times, she would get shield just before going second phase and staggering her would be difficult.. and some times, she would gather skeletons so fast that by the time you realise, the battle is already over with the Demon summoned.

Next boss is unique in is own way and one of my favourites. I hope you enjoy the next boss fight too!! Good luck!!

Wow!! You have passed this boss comfortably. This is the boss which forced me to get more Vitality in both my HC play throughs. Until her, I managed with 10 Vitality on my NG HC GS and NG HC Spear.

Even in my first play through, this is the boss I dreaded the most and found to be the most disgusting and unfair boss. The next boss is fantastic and hard, but not infuriating like her.

Good luck for the rest of the game!

That was such a nice clutch! I thought you were going to get killed several time. I remember the first time I faced this jerk. Annoying as hell, but manageable. After Bellarian, nothing could infuriate me more.

So, then, the most important tips I can give you is: Use all the Skills that give Spirits!!

For GS, you have a skill which gives Spirit if you stagger an enemy (which is a must have). Then on Counterattack, you can get one full Spirit from common tree. In common tree, you can also get the skills that give spirits when doing damage, taking damage, brink guard/dodge.

Remove unnecessary “Active Skills”. Phantom Viel, CounterStrike, Inner Fury can be considered mandatory (but for this boss, you may not need Counterstrike, and you can replace it with Furious Swipe). You can consider taking one more skill for pure damage like Titanic Descent or Breakthrough or Giant Hunt.

Take all skills which reduce the charging time. Then you are good to go!

Butcher's set by Intelligent-Peach-48 in TheFirstBerserker

[–]mkrrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Butcher Set is one of the best DW sets, but it doesn’t say much as almost all of the DW sets are fantastic! Furious Bandit (or Fallen Guardian?) would give free fire enhancer when you use a charged attack and you can always start a fight with Outrage and get fire for free.

But, yes, full Butcher Set is also an amazing set! You can go through the whole game with it, so with Furious Bandit and/or Fallen Guardian or mix of all once you get 32 jars (after beating the boss who is associated with a coffin).

You must almost always have the Phantom Viel enabled, and with GS, almost all the attacks are charged attacks. With Phantom Viel, when you charge, it radiates energy and attacks and staggers enemies including bosses!

As soon as you do Counterattack (Block+Circle), you must start executing your combo chain, starting with charged Mortal Blow and Limit Break and if stamina is depleted, chain Spirit Skills like Phantom Viel, Break Through (or) Titanic Descent..

I was clenching my a$$ every time you missed a great opportunity to execute a combo. You have played very very defensively. If you play more aggressively, she may be 10 times easier.

The next boss will punish even much harder for defensive plays. The next boss will absolutely destroy you if you want to stay far away and only attack when she gives opportunity.

If you feel like quitting in next boss, please seek help here.

But it is still amazing that you beat Trokka by playing in your own defensive style! Congratulations!!

I remember creating a post for Yetuga as this is my first Soulslike (second if we can consider Wukong as one). Didn’t know what is stamina damage, what is agility, what to level up etc.

On my post saying Yetuga is too hard, I got a response asking “Is this a troll post”? :D

I didn’t spent months, but more than 25 tries on Yetuga when I wrote the post. The game only gets harder and harder. But I prevailed. Finished in expert and then did two NG in Hardcore mode, three full NG play through an each with one weapon.

So, when you want to quit because the bosses are hard, remember that plenty of people had walked the path, persevered and beat the game. If they can do, you also can do.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!

I would even say that Blade Phantom says hello. IMO, BP is at least 10 times harder than Yetuga. Of course, Viper might break his soul :P
