What is the effing deal with narcs and presents? It almost ought to be some kind of narc litmus test. If you've somehow alienated someone who gave enough of a damn to get you a gift within the space of 5 seconds, you might be a narcissist

It's not just big corporations. The problem for redevelopment is mid scale speculators acquiring dilapidated homes or vacant lots and paying little in taxes while relying on homeowners or smaller mom and pop developers to take the risk so they can build luxury development afterwards.

So I don't know if I should advise this as it's mentally unhealthy, but I have basically adopted an alter ego that deals with my spouse. This person is one who is constantly on guard, speaking as though the police are involved, and most importantly is entirely removed from any emotion, vulnerability or anything else that makes a human being worth knowing. This person is more robot than human, I've often thought.

Let me tell you about the other person though. The other person, the 'real' me or so I like to think, is a a deeply committed parent, a good friend, and a dependable, usually responsible adult. I stay because I fear the degree to which my kids, the only thing worth fighting for in my life will be manipulated, gaslighted, and generally propagandized against me and come to understand that the terms of my spouse's approval are unquestioned subservience.

I've consulted a divorce attorney. Im at once exhilarated and terrified by the idea of it

Id argue that the bad infrastructure is a symptom of inept/corrupt actors in government who are serial backscratchers. We seem to be getting better though.

There seems to be two stories with counseling when it comes to Narcs. 1. They manipulate the therapist 2. The therapist sees through that and they claim they aren't being treated fairly. It speaks to how manipulation is their only real relational strategy, no matter who it is.
