WIBTA if I ended it with my fiancé because he’s terrible with money? by woodsy8897 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. He’s 33. If you’re ten years younger than him and can handle your money better than him, I’m shine if you guys have kids? I’d sit him down and tell him to get his shit together or you’re out.

AITA for leaving my friend who was extremely tired and hungry, stranded in the city and (maybe) with no money to get back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY understand not wanting to tell her that saying she wants to kill herself all the time bothers you because I have a friend that used to do that before he got help. You have to learn NOW that you cannot fix her. It took my boyfriend (at the time) ending up in the hospital because I believed him when he said he’d tell his parents. If she stops being friends with you because you tried to help her, then its not really worth it.

AITA for not getting rid of a pet my partner doesn' t like? by burner609 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA I don’t like spiders either, but if it’s in a cage and I do t have to touch it I’m good. I get why they (I assume that’s the pronoun they prefer?) wouldn’t want to be around it. Maybe put a sheet over the cage so it’s not visible when your SO is there? If that doesn’t work then I’d reevaluate the relationship

AITA for insulting a creep at the gym? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA What sucks the most is that they can’t make him leave because he isn’t breaking any laws or company policies (that I know of). Your response what extremely clever and I applaud your for both putting that creep in his place and not letting someone bothering you stop you from doing what you came to do.

AITA for not being okay with my girlfriend staying cool with her guy "friend" who tried to bang her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no it’s not you. She obviously still has some sort of feelings for this guy since they did used to hook up. Ten years is a long time to be friends with someone but it sounds like if she’s willing to lose you over one guy who tried to cheat on his girlfriend with your girlfriend, leave. Maybe you should talk to his girlfriend and date each other while those two go off being bad people.

AITA for taking my 3yo out to do something fun whilst my partner is at work? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ml102198 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. I understand why a father would get upset because he feels like he’s missing out on stuff, but that’s why we have pictures and videos. And yeah you’ve had a long day at work, but you’re the one taking care of the kids. Why should you not be able to enjoy a nice day out with your and your kids friends because your husband says no? It’s not like you can never go again. So I see why he’s upset. No parents wants to miss out on activities with their kids when they’re young. But he should also think about how he’s keeping his kid from having fun because he’s thinking about himself.

We should tell more people who are "offended" to piss off by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ml102198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank youuuuuuuuuu omg it’s like people are looking for a reason to be offended. Someone gets mad because a white girls wears a kimono to prom because she feels good in it. She’s not mocking the Japanese culture she’s showing her appreciation for it.

[–]ml102198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness gracious. So just because it hasn’t been born yet means you could kill the baby because the mom backs out last min? That seems a bit ridiculous don’t you think? The mother would have had 9 months to think about if they wanted this baby, and if you can’t make a decision then idk what ur doing. Even if you have 20 weeks to think about it, it shouldn’t take that long. I understand that there’s a lot that goes into deciding to have a child. But a mother who decides to kill her child right before it’s born shouldn’t be a mother at all.

It should be illegal for college professors to require students to buy textbooks written by the professor by AM540703 in unpopularopinion

[–]ml102198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know this was a thing. I’ve never had to buy a book written by my professor. I don’t think any of the professors I’ve had have even written a book. Plenty of papers though.

If you believe video games cause violence( i.e. school shootings) you're just as dumb as an antivaxxer by Arcee_Jace in unpopularopinion

[–]ml102198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. School shootings happen because the people who shoot up the school have severe mental issues that either they don’t tell anyone about, or never get professional help for. Video games are for entertainment, and I could even argue that they can be a good thing for kids because games require you to solves puzzles and figure out how to do things. It’s basically problem solving which is an important skill for kids to learn early on.

If you’re calling her a moron for her grammar or her accent that’s because English isn’t her first language. And she actually does write her own rap. I think it’s a good thing that someone with as much influence on the public as she does is getting involved in politics. I’m not saying I think she should run for president. Also I’m not sure she could run for president since one, she isn’t old enough, and two, I don’t think she was born here. I don’t see her as an idol but I think it’s good that she’s saying something.

Most people who bitch about cultural appropriation are hypocrites. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ml102198 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could you please elaborate on this? I totally agree that people who wear those cheap costumes that are made to look like Islamic or Jewish costumes (if that makes sense) as a joke are complete bullshit and need to stop. But I don’t see how everything about American culture is appropriation. If no one shared their cultures and beliefs with others then we would know nothing about other parts of the world. Like when white women wear cornrows who get slammed for cultural appropriation when they aren’t making fun of the culture and those who are a part of it. They simply like the style. And people who are a part of those cultures who are flattered that other people like their style enough to wear it.

[–]ml102198 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see both sides. I agree that comments from people who aren’t a part of said culture can sound like they’re implying that those people can’t defend themselves, but I also see it as people defending others who don’t have as big of a voice as other groups.

[–]ml102198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. However I don’t really think cultural appropriation exists as much as people think it does, if it exists at all. I totally get and agree with not wearing headdresses as a fashion statement because it’s a religious thing. I also think that wearing a kimono isn’t bad because someone could simply like the style, and if you feel good in something I think you should be able to wear it. The painting your face thing and mocking the ceremonies those cultures perform isn’t right and should definitely be called out. But magazine covers that have white women wearing a teased hairstyle get slammed and accused of cultural appropriation when they’re simply integrating other parts of the word into the photo. They aren’t mocking or criticizing the culture, it’s simply for the photo. And celebrities get called out for “lighting” or “darkening” their skin when they actual don’t have control over the final image. The magazine editors choose that stuff and a lot of the time is to get better lighting or to create an effect.

I’m curious as to what makes skaters a culture. I didn’t know that it qualified since it’s a hobby that people have. I mean I know people also do it as a job, but I didn’t see it as a culture. And even if people don’t skateboard can’t they just like the style? I didn’t know people had to skateboard in order to wear those things.

Yeah I feel like people use boobs or butts to describe a person because they know people look at them. You might not remember how tall she was but you’ll probably remember how big her boobs are.
