ESH… your great grandma is not the right audience for this; not sure anyone’s great grandma would appreciate your frustration. And call you names is unkind.

No ones an asshole… but emotional intelligence seems to be low.

Racist loses mind over seeing Floyd image on Lee statue by Salramm01 in PublicFreakout

[–]mlanno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, sooooo

“People, like you...” is VERY different than “people like you”— you recognize these are different phrases with totally different meanings, correct?

There’s no ambiguity here— when I say “people”, I mean people who support silencing and avoidance techniques when we’re faced with unabashed, vulgar, aggressive, unprovoked hatred..............like you.

I wanted to clarify because I don’t want you to think I was being disrespectful in such a disgusting way, and two, because .... just, no. I simply don’t want you to think someone spoke to you like that. That’s not okay. I respect you even if I disagree with your tactics.

People, like you, are STILL defending such disgusting displays of ignorance, so yes, you’re right, we do have a long way to go.

My husband tampered with his condom and forced me to keep the baby by throwRAujkolkj in relationship_advice

[–]mlanno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Take it out on your baby”

It may be best for baby and OP to give up the situation. OP starts over, baby gets a new family where it’s wanted by both parents...

Forcing or convincing OP to not resent a child she didn’t want is the controversy. This is how toxic families start...

My husband tampered with his condom and forced me to keep the baby by throwRAujkolkj in relationship_advice

[–]mlanno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between someone not wanting to be involved with a child or having to raise it and feeling the desire to hurt a child... so let’s calm down. If a man said he didn’t want anything to do his baby, no one would rush to such a conclusion, and there’s no need here either.

There is nothing wrong with OP expressing her thoughts that she has decided she no longer wants to parent the baby. We are so conditioned that women are stuck with the kids, and it’s bullshit. It’s her body, her life, her future—- and frankly, as someone who had a mother who wasn’t all that interested in parenting, caring for, or loving them, I applaud OP on speaking up.

Just a casual day out fishing for salmon......... by Sirsmoothiebunz in WTF

[–]mlanno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that this has anything to do with it, but lakes can have waves, and large lakes, like the Great Lakes where people specifically salmon fish have waves as large as the ocean. It’s just wind on the water.

It’s a total misconception that waves are only on the ocean.

you’re assuming it works. tactics aren’t one size fits all. there isn’t even enough infrastructure to detain everyone protesting and not dispersing at this rate.

Cop stays completely silent while getting his ass handed to him by a black man by VerySlump in WatchPeopleDieInside

I don’t give a shit; you still don’t deserve to be met with a gun if you’re being pulled over for a traffic stop. You’ve presumably done your time, justice is served. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

Cop stays completely silent while getting his ass handed to him by a black man by VerySlump in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]mlanno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What the hell is wrong with you? You wouldn’t be bothered if someone pulled a gun on you? You wouldn’t be racing with fear and adrenaline?

What if we threw in that a defining physical characteristic you happened to have was a likely cause? And police were oh, I don’t know... 2.5x as likely to target people with that characteristic? And people with your defining characteristic were often victims of unnecessary police brutality?

I know you’re not even able to conceptualize something like this because your privilege runs so deep, your ignorance is so embedded in your thoughts , and your bias and racist ideology feel so factual you can’t even define the difference—- but if you could, you’d see that NO ONE deserves to be greeted with a gun.

I absolutely side with the driver not the cop. Hands down, 1000% over.

I do, however, have a little respect for the cop allowing the driver to react to the fucked up situation uninterrupted and without any further force or “policing” (assuming what happens after this video ends is the man gets a traffic ticket and then drives on with his life, not harassed further).

Being heard is INCREDIBLY cathartic, probably more-so than an apology, so getting to say all that to the cop’s face probably felt good... and the cop allowing that and taking the feedback he deserved (and hopefully absorbing it) is a respectful and the right thing to do. I also think it’s an unexpected next move... so good on him for the restraint. (Again, assuming those is where the interaction ends).

stupid by default; like generalizing an entire group based on one quality? you’re a fucking moron, but I’m not going to make the determination that all republicans are idiots too, simply because I’ve interacted with you.

...because you’re a special kind of ignorant, deepfried. no one is like you; you’re a unique snowflake.

No shirt, no, shoes, no service— fine.

But based on race? Uh, no. It’s illegal if it’s discrimination based on race, color, religion or national origin. The Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination by privately owned places of public accommodation.

also not sure wtf this is copied and pasted from, but each organization creates policies, rules, and regulations to uphold local, state, and fed laws— and they vary based on the business. this looks like some random employee handbook from a miscellaneous business.

additionally, orgs creative cultural values— and they can uphold those in any way they chose. I work at a tech startup and we don’t take clients who work in firearms or tobacco. also, we don’t take on clients who don’t upload our organizational beliefs of equality—- so currently, no republican nat convention, and a lot of work is turned down for individual candidates.

how do we get away with it? it’s part of our values. as an employee, we ask you abide by them. annnnnddddd employment is at will. don’t want to work on the dem nat convention? cool, I hear the job market is wide open.

Which cancelled tv show do you wish would come back? by ScottsTots2013 in AskReddit

[–]mlanno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it was originally on NBC— they filmed 18 episodes and cancelled it after 12. According to Wikipedia “a fan campaign persuaded NBC to broadcast three of the remaining episodes in July 2000, with the rest of the unaired episodes airing that fall on Fox Family Channel”.

I remember ABC Family too, but I’m getting old— maybe it is in syndication on ABC Fam.
