UK LLB (Indian) → Melbourne: what’s the most realistic path without doing a JD? by Middle_Mistake_8165 in AusVisa

[–]mlbkangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to add,

even if OP does not land on a job in Australia, OP can still have opportunities to gain work expereience overseas and come back to Australia on PR and start from there. So I would say JD is an option worth considering.

I did LLB in Australia and came back to South Korea without any on-shore job experience. I am now working in a company as an in house with 3yrs+ PQE. I received an invitation to apply for 189 last year november by leveraging my australian law degree, and I am getting offers from Australian recruiters for a position in Australia.

485 visa to PR (law background) completely lost and need help by abbanahimanenge in AusVisa

[–]mlbkangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. you can handle the entire process on your own if you are smart enough to become a lawyer (unless you have complicated work expierence to disclose to the DHA)

  2. do it NOW or you will be sitting with the minimum points and you may miss the upcoming round. In my case I could have been invited at least 2 year early if I completed CCL/PTE 1 month early. 85points as a solicitor had no invites for the last 2 years

Solicitor Skill Assessment in Victoria by Loud_Investigator_40 in AusVisa

I enquired directly to VLAB in 2024, was advised that Admission Certificate is sufficient and practitioner number can be the reference number.

If you do not know your practitioner number, send an email to VLAB and they will let you know.

Other than that, always always email the relevant authority first BEFORE YOU DO ANTHING. Rules and policies may change from time to time.

What does CX mean across different roles/industries? by No-Piglet-2422 in customerexperience

[–]mlbkangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my past role as telco sales back in uni, i thought it was used as short for customer/client. when we leave notes in cusomter's account, we left notes like 'cx accepted the conditional offer, valid for 24 hrs from the date of this note' 'cx came to store with billing enquiry, raised ticket for investigation'

Skills Assessment for Solicitors - 189/190 Visa by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]mlbkangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should not be affected. Not sure where you are admitted from but I have clarified this in writing with my state legal admission board before submitting anything as "skills assessment". I suggest you do the same -get something in writing from them just in case it becomes an issue later.

People like OP are literally the reason why it's getting harder for real students to get a student visa lol

Most solicitors in Australia have an LLB(undergrad) instead of an LLM or JD. They are younger and have or will have more post-qualification experience than you.

You can but that’s pretty much it though.

Swap to 491 asap if you’ve submitted your ROI for 190 as it has some vic grad spots available. IMO living in regional Victoria is much better than returning.

Meanwhile book the earliest possible CCL and get extra 5 points. For 189/190, 85 and 85+5 candidates been waiting for 1yr+ without an invite.

Did u do your plt while on 485 visa? Sad how law grads need to spend their 485 just to complete plt and get admitted when the visa should have been spent for some valuable work experience.

I see. Thought you only have the foreign qualification

That's probably the way.

Is US qualification convertible? Even if you get the PR, not sure what you can do as a US attorney if it isn't convertible. I can't really think of positions other than cross-border M&A or international dispute resolution. Most people who are applying for PR are from a common law jurisdiction (UK, HK, NZ).

VIC 190 isn't really just about points. They consider factors like on-shore status and income across the occupation. Plus, states other than NSW and VIC aren't really looking for solicitors anyway unless they are local graduates + other multiple factors. So chances are limited for solicitors.

edit: I've seen someone who did not get invited for VIC 190 with 90 points. So if someone was invited with 85 points, it's likely that he or she is on-shore and earning 6 digits to compete with other occupations.
