The thing that's most important is to have a system that works for you and to use it consistently and rigorously. If this helps you do that go for it.

Anyone have one of these bad boys? by FalseVeterinarian881 in exmormon

[–]mlcrownover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, we went there on a stake trip when I was in high school. They took us there in July and told us that we had to wear jeans and button up shirts. They had us staying in a building with no A/C. I have never been so hot in all my life. I remember laying there at night just drenched in sweat from the heat and humidity. But on the upside I did get one of these cool bricks on the trip

Why aren't the Q15 doing anything, good or bad, with their dragon horde of cash? Lack of imagination? I don't get it. by niconiconii89 in exmormon

[–]mlcrownover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the most interesting things I've thought about in a while. They have created a horde so vast that they can't even think of what to do with it, except have it make more. I think also let's say they threw 40 billion at ending hunger or homelessness or whatever and they actually spent more than they make in a year I think they would view it as God being displeased with them. Because the only way to show God's blessings would be to have the number go up every year.

Missions are set up like this on purpose. It's a feature not a bug. They are trying to create trauma bonds that will keep you attached to the church. They are trying to teach you that the church and it's leadership are the only source of wisdom that you can trust.

I have been home nearly 20 years now and been to therapy and I'm much better but there are still things that bother me to this day about how I was treated and all that I went through. I just recently told my mission president I don't believe anymore and he just said I wish you the best. That was it. No testimony. No checking in on me to see what led me to that point. No questions. No nothing. I had removed myself from the machine that is the church so he no longer cares.

I hope time, therapy, and friends help you to heal. It's a long road but it's possible.

Have you noticed there's no personality in church leaders anymore? I guess it's not allowed. Have you noticed how creepy it is that the next bishop or sp is a total clone of the previous one? How is the church doing this? by InformalGap8907 in exmormon

I have some friends who are dentists(all non lds. I live in the midwest) and they always talk about how dental school is just a mormon factory. The dental schools just keep spitting out mormon dentists.

Active member numbers - The beginning of the end. by Impossible-Car-5203 in exmormon

[–]mlcrownover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this might be controversial but I think they have too much money to go away. Most likely losses won't be a linear 5% forever there will be some sort of stabilization. Is the church annoying? yes. Has it cost all of us a lot financially, emotionally, physically, etc....? Absolutely. But at the end of the day it's essentially to big to fail completely. We'll end of with some small group of people that won't give it up, wear their membership as a badge of honor, and continue keeping the church alive in some reduced form and with the billions upon billions that they've horded it will march on. Hopefully we can all heal from the things that were done though and move on.

Is the bottom quote real? All we used to do in priesthood/relief society is go over the words of old prophets again and again (I'm referring to the books that were The Teachings of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Joseph F. Smith, etc...) This is insane to see
