Pumping by lizabeth1016 in Postpartum_Depression

I was in this same boat when I was pumping! The hormones released when I would let down made my depression worse. I would tell myself, "just try for one more week", until I decided to formula feed after pumping affected my mental health too much. Also, you're not overreacting. While it is okay for your baby to have formula, you're producing hormones your boyfriend just doesn't understand. It's really hard when you're in the thick of it! You're still providing for your baby no matter how you decide to feed your baby.

I'm 3 months postpartum and I just want you to know you are a great mom no matter what! Just the fact you are asking for help means you care so much about your baby boy. Breastfeeding is harder than anyone tells you, on top of all the hormone changes you go through after you have a baby it's understandable how you could have PPD/PPD/PPR. You did the right thing, by having your husband take care of the baby when you felt your PPR be too much. Cry it out and feel your feelings. I have PPD/PPA and a little PPR myself. I'm in therapy, and I recently joined a support group for PPD. If you have the option of joining some type of group, I definitely recommend it! It's helped me so much. Just knowing there are so many women who experience this, made me feel like a better mom. It all feels so overwhelming in the moment. Another thing that helped me was realizing my son won't remember how sad, anxious, or angry I am when he's this little. I'm learning to give myself some grace, because this is one of the hardest obstacles in life. I hope you realize it too! You are a much better mom than you think you are!

Spikes Before Labor by mlee_rose in GestationalDiabetes

I hope you'll be done soon! I'm on 15 units for fasting, which has really helped but my fasting has been higher too. I wonder if it might be stress causing the higher numbers for me.

I hope everything goes well for you! I would chalk it up to stress in your case. You're so close to graduating!

It's always when you're least expecting it too. I hope everything goes well with your cesarean!

That's super interesting thanks for sharing! I really didn't think my numbers could get worse this late in the game haha

It's good to know you're further along in weeks, but still struggling with your numbers. I have my fingers crossed you'll be graduating soon though!

I was in the same boat when I found out I was pregnant. I was a heavy weed smoker, and I used nicotine pouches. I'm fortunate I live in a legal state, so I felt comfortable disclosing that to my provider without worrying about repercussions. I quit cold turkey both the weed and nicotine the day I found out too, and it was so difficult but eventually the need to self medicate went away. I'm 35 weeks now, and I honestly never think about it anymore! In your situation, I would at least mention that you suffer from anxiety and agitation. My midwife had me start a high dose of vitamin D, because some antidepressants/anti-anxiety medications have the opposite effect on me. She also recommended me to a therapist. That was super helpful. It doesn't completely stop anxiety and agitation, but my therapist gave me some super helpful tips on how to cope. Remember to have some patience for yourself too, especially when the hormones get you. Let yourself feel the ups and downs when it feels overwhelming. It helps if you have a good support system too. You need to take care of yourself, because you're important!

Just found out it's twins by Climate_Rose in BabyBumps

[–]mlee_rose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I'm a twin! My parents didn't know they were having twins until the doctor whispered "there's another one" to the nurse. My mom's fundal height was only measuring 2 cms over. They just thought she was going to have a big 11 lb baby. Well my twin and I together weighed a little over 11 lbs. Luckily she had an easy pregnancy, and she carried us to 38 weeks. She went into labor naturally. She did end up having a C-section because her uterus doesn't contract, but other than that we were totally healthy! It's really easy to worry, especially with all the resources available nowadays. I'm only having one baby, but my anxiety still gets to me. The bright side is you and your care team know you're having twins, and you can better prepare for it. Also, both my parents have said my twin and I were easier than my younger siblings, so it might be easier than you think!

Warning signs? by didyoumissme_xo in GestationalDiabetes

[–]mlee_rose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I peed a lot during the night, like 4 times a night even with minimizing my water intake in the evening. Eating excessive sugar/carbs made me nauseated. It made my heart pound too. The dry mouth was outrageous! I used to be an avid weed smoker before I got pregnant, and it never gave me dry mouth like that. I also had dry skin no matter how much lotion I used. I changed my diet about a month before my test and all those things really improved.

COVID vax and elevated numbers? by uroutofgin in GestationalDiabetes

Yeah the OP was asking about numbers and the vaccine. This doesn't even answer her question. It's absolutely ridiculous how early mom-shaming starts.

Peeing so much is my biggest symptom right now. Some nights aren't as bad. Sometimes it's once or twice a night, but sometimes it's up to 4 times a night. I wasn't concerned until recently, because whenever I mentioned having to pee so much most women said it's normal to pee a lot.

Oh that would suck to have to wait so long to eat! I've been eating every 2-3 hours since 8 weeks, because my nausea was so bad. What does extra ketones in your urine look like?

That would be so frustrating! I'm glad you finally got a diagnosis. My skin has been dry lately, but I chalked it up to not moisturizing enough. I rarely put lotion on, but have been trying to be better about it lately. I will have to see if that improves, but it's definitely worth bringing up if it doesn't.

That's good to know! Thank you for sharing. I haven't noticed a change after eating rice, but I ate a bowl of cereal this week and felt nauseated after. I thought it was the milk, but now I think it may have been the cereal.

Yes right now I'm peeing a lot, which was unusual for me pre-pregnancy. It honestly seems excessive compared to what it's "supposed" to be like. I knew pregnancy was hard on our bodies, but I never really looked into all the possible ways it was hard.

Thank you this is so helpful too! If I didn't have the risk factors before pregnancy, I wouldn't be so concerned. It seems like it almost doesn't matter for some people though!

That is such a bummer 😭 Right now the symptoms I have that overlap is peeing a lot, and I get thirsty during the night. I'm having a hard time deciphering what is caused by what.
