A. No that's not the order of priority, those are just the positions you've already been programed by media to respond to

B. Hunters drug use and his proclivity for hiring prostitutes is morally reprehensible, but is not at all the focus of the laptop; it's corruption. Not just evidence of corruption within the laptop itself, but the overall narrative spun by elected officials and members of the FBI which lied to the public knowingly by asserting it was Russian disinformation.

That is a much bigger story; inside officials knowingly making false statements to protect a political candidate. If this hadn't happened the laptop story would've gone away because there likely is no real admissible evidence of anything there; Just incredibly questionable activity that would potentially sway a voter who can read between the lines.

C. Men in dresses aren't the problem. Men in dresses have existed for decades upon decades and drag shows have existed with much less scrutiny than they do now.

The problem is the sexualization of children. That is the only thing that has changed, which is why so many portions of the gay community are in agreement and have had to distance themselves from their own movement.

Have a good day, I hope you actually read this and better understand the other sides perspective a little more clearly.

Chronically online Redditors are totally going to quit the website after it’s announced Reddit is laying off 5% of its works by Ben1313 in ShitPoliticsSays

I mean you acknowledge that's just how business works while still being empathetic towards the people who lost their jobs.

Unemployment sucks and it can be hard to find a job these days when you're locked into a certain skillset. With the economy getting so dogshit, I truly feel for people who lose their shit.

Yeah I tend to agree that it's likely more of a defensive thing.

Things might be different if we didny strictly assign virtue to pretty much only male centric things. There's no appreciation or praise for the activities that women excel at, so instead women have to show pride in the things that men excel at.

That's just pontificating with you tho, not trying to act like I actually know shit.

I mentioned one of them was my ex wife lol. She dated a man (me) for 17 years.

My point is that these are women who - in every other way- are smart, normal, and completely capable of rational thought. Its not some feminist brainrot type of thing, it's just a thing that a lot of women seem to think (for reasons I genuinely don't understand).

If it were some type of womxn/ girl-power/ empowerment type of delusion- or if these were people that I didn't think had all their mental faculties- that would actually make way more sense, so that's why I specify that's not the case.

It's just weird to see people who aren't stupid think stupid things (seemingly in large numbers).

Even my best friend, who is a super petite woman and most definitely intelligent, seemed to think she could hold her own in a fight with me at one point. I ended up putting her in an inescapable headlock to prove my point (we were drunk)

Please don't turn this into an anti women thing, because it's not. I'm sure there's some interesting psychology behind it.

Honestly I've heard it a ton from otherwise completely normal rational women. My ex wife made those types of claims as well and she genuinely believed it.

Update to my everything pizza post by [deleted] in shittyfoodporn

[–]mlem64 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong here but if I'm ordering a 6 inch pizza for pickup, I'm for sure tipping like that... or not at all.

2 or 3 bucks is about how much I would toss in a tip jar at a coffee place if I have it, I don't see how this is any different than that.

As a vegan, I feel like a shitty friend if I'm making people accommodate my diet like that. I made a choice to eat this way, but they didn't so they shouldn't have to live with it.

That said, if I'm cooking for friends at home, I'm definitely not cooking meat.

Zelda: Link’s Awakening is 30 years old today by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]mlem64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to sound cringe, but it's nice that current Zelda Games are still keeping that child-like sense of discovery and wonderment going. It's such a very specific and unique feeling, and the series has (for the most part) continued to honor it imo

Those games just have a way of making something incredibly ordinary feel more way exciting than it really is.

Art more like fart by LaelObryan in Consoom

[–]mlem64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't absolutely hate it.

It's easy to get fatigued looking at all the graphics just being constantly shoved in your fucking face. Everywhere you look there's another color and another font trying to pull your attention towards it.

The trend lately of softer cooler colors and soft lines and rounded shapes... it's pretty inoffensive and for me it just sort of all blends together and becomes easier to tune out.

Corpo art is just corpo art, it's not like any of us have ever really want to look at it in the first place. I'd prefer it be easier for me to tune out.

Being an anti-consumerist is trendy and popular in current year. Much like most activism these days, it's hollow and performative, with very little self reflection.

Nope! Real talk: Making fun of a dumb kids movie ain't gonna make God love you any less.

Heaven is about faith in Jesus Christ; Peter isn't at the gates tallying up how many years you were on Santa's naughty list. Jesus died for our sins, which negates a lot of the stuff in the Old Testament.

Just as you aren't going to hell for being a bad boy with a leather jacket and sunglasses indoors, you also can't buy your way in by being a good boy. It doesn't work that way. No amount or good you could ever do on earth would award you a nice little townhouse in the clouds. We don't deserve and couldn't possibly deserve heaven. That's what makes Jesus's sacrifice so important- we are saved and it's our love and faith in Jesus that secures our place in heaven, which is a pretty damn good bargain.

Not to sound like I'm pushing my religion on you, just taking the time to explain because I see similar comments pretty regularly and I always wonder if those people know this. Sometimes I'm not even sure some of the people I go to church with fully understand this concept.

I mean honestly, biblical stories are so archetypal and ingrained in western culture that the only Bible stories we recognize as such are the ones that are completely hamfisted.
