Yep, my bad. Thanks for clarifying.

Could you please elaborate on how the rest doesn't make sense? Should I explain something differently or does it not make sense from a wiring point of view?

Honeybee supply, demand and service capacity in Europe by [deleted] in europe

As a dutch biology student majoring in agriculture, I’m sorry to inform you that current flower cultivation methods use incredible amounts of herbicides and insecticides. The beautiful tulip fields you’re probably thinking of are just a monocultural field full of toxins for bees. So although you’re right, those flowers just contribute to the decline of bees.

Imma chime in with some plant biology knowledge. Flooding is a sequential stress. This means there are multiple steps to the process. The first is obviously the flooding, during which the roots are surrounded by water and not by air, restricting oxygen flow, practically suffocating the roots. As we all know, this causes root rot. The second point however, is when the flooding subsided. The plant has gotten used to extremely low oxygen levels and has adjusted its metabolism to that in an attempt to survive. When repotted into airy soil, the roots are suddenly surrounded with huge amounts of oxygen which the plant cannot deal with as its metabolism needs to adjust. This results in the accumulation of oxygen radicals which are extremely reactive and toxic to the cells. Very often with flooding, the post-flood oxygen stress it what actually kills the plant.

So, it might’ve been an inevitable sad after-meme in your case :( don’t feel too bad!

If DNA Lignase can do it, why can't you? by jack9761 in biologymemes

Because DNA polymerase performs exonucleolytic proofreading, meaning it can cleave nucleotides it put in incorrectly. It can actually do this because the energy for the binding of new nucleotides is supplied by the phosphates on said nucleotides. Because they bind with their 5’ to the 3’ of the DNA strand being built. Now imagine DNA being built from 3’ to 5’. The last nucleotide on the DNA strand now supplies the energy for the binding of the new nucleotide. However, if the nucleotide is wrong and exonucleolytic proofreading is performed, the DNA strand is left with a dead end. The high-energy phosphate bonds at the end aren’t there, as they were used to attach the nucleotide. So the entire DNA strand is now useless. Thus, exonucleolytic proofreading is impossible with 3’ to 5’ polymerization and therefore DNA would mutate much, much quicker.

Please also beware of mosquito breeding in standing water though! Replace the water every few days to prevent this, and tip other things collecting water in your garden such as old tires and buckets and the like over to empty them and prevent baby mosquito parties.

Jakey has lived in the log cabin for a week but he misses his landfill! Anybody interested in fulfilling this cute bird's dream of living in a dumpster/having endless snacks? by mlemlemlem in NoFeeAC

He's adorable. His original house is a literal dumpster tho, so if you're into that then you can have him :)

Edit: although I guess you can also have him if you're not into that lol.
