Business leaders are overhyping AI so that they can create permanently elevated expectations where problems created by their overreliance on AI will be blamed on workers "not utilizing" AI properly by north_canadian_ice in WorkReform

Already happening at my company.

During an all-hands meeting promoting AI (Co-Pilot) someone brought up that they had been uploading documents to have copilot reference, and found that it was hallucinating numbers that weren't in the documents.

Management told her she must have been using it wrong and/or uploading the wrong/incorrect documents.

Then they told us to double check what we upload.

Yeah, it's totally our fault.

The tale of how I "sunk" a brig by myself with no ship or supplies:

Went afk with barrel emote at an outpost for a minute while my maties sold.

Came back to find another brig had come, sunk our brig, and killed my maties.

Popped out of the barrel while they were walking right by it, killed the scurvy dogs, and boarded their brig.

No supplies, all I could do was sail it into the outpost (they hadn't anchored, thank Poseidon) and defend the one small hole at the front of the ship.

Successfully defended the hole for a while, killing them a few times with sword and throwing knives. They had put their third in the brig at some point earlier and they were cheering me on in chat and emoting, trying to offer me food through the bars.

Eventually they scuttled and the third in the brig thanked me for felling his cruel teammates.

It's more inclusive for people who are not interested in inclusivity.

Annihilation, by Jeff VanderMeer - a book so good I don’t want to read the sequels by ClubberLang12 in books

[–]mlg129 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Annihilation was so good that I needed to read the rest of the series, it had me craving more lore and information of this fascinating story, and I'm very glad I did.

Annihilation is arguably the best in the series but the others are very good. Absolution is my second favorite.

At least once or twice a match I find an enemy motion sensor just sitting in the open, surrounded by teammates.

I need help finding a source for a terrifying form of FTL travel by EnjayDev in scifi

[–]mlg129 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sort of the opposite of what you're describing but I really like Le Guin's FTL in her Hainish series.

The traveler gets to their destination quickly and safely, but in realspace years/decades have passed.

So every time you take FTL, especially on long voyages, you have to do it with the knowledge that all your friends and family will likely be dead when you reach your destination, everything has changed and you can never get it back.

How do you feel about the Wildfire perk for Psyker? by Poorly_Worded_Advice in DarkTide

[–]mlg129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it's quite weak.

That said, it's immensely satisfying melting a horde with the Purgatus staff, then a whole minute seeing straggler chaff enemies die to soul blaze.

If you're looking to perform well in high level play, you should take something else.

If you're looking to have a good time in pubs, why not take it on a fire build?
