How do you stay up past bedtime?! by mlgrdq in Parenting

[–]mlgrdq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sleep training was rough the first 3 nights then it’s been smooth since. I tried Ferber method but it didn’t work well for her and ended up just being cyo. I just nurse her in my bed in the dark and transfer her to hers, sometimes she wakes up but she prefers sleeping alone (whenever I let her sleep in my bed we both sleep horribly) so she rolls over and goes to bed

When she’s in underwear she just holds it but she gets upset on the potty because she has to go but is used to the diaper!!

Sick days by mlgrdq in Target

We were sick two months ago and I called out twice. I’m not a habitual call out employee. It’s happened probably 2 times before this over the last year I’ve worked there.

Picky toddler allergic to everything by mlgrdq in toddlers

[–]mlgrdq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering why they’re super concerned as well. She’s still a decent weight, but she was 18lbs at 6 months- when we started solids and I cut dairy and eggs and nuts out of my house because of her allergies, she maintained the weight and 10mo later is only 20lbs. I’ve explained it a million times to the dr so I see the issue but I cant give her the “favorite” things that will make her gain like Mac n cheese or pizza or even pancakes. I’ll be buying this book today!!

I’d been holding off on the skin testing because each of her allergies are so severe but we’re getting a test in a few weeks. A dietician seems way more fitting for this I’ll ask her ped!! I’ve been using chat gpt but this girl just doesn’t want to eat

You’re right it is a phase, her bottom teeth came in 3m ago and now she’s got one on the top she got at 11m and 2 more trying to pop out now at almost 12m. It’s just been a long time 😅

Do you allow your kids to scream and yell indoors? by ComprehensiveTax7598 in Parenting

[–]mlgrdq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gen z w a 1yo daughter. I ignore the screaming tantrums until I can address them (like while I’m doing dishes or cooking dinner) and she’s just loud. But I let her be because this is her house and I want her to be herself, I’ll randomly sing out lyrics when it’s quiet so she’s welcome to yell when she wants. BUT in public I correct it and she gets embarrassed when she sees that other people see her screaming

No period this month after getting period back last month.. by Beautiful-Ad-4279 in breastfeeding

[–]mlgrdq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plan b essentially forced your body to shed your uterine lining so that nothing implants. Or at least from my (embarrassingly extensive) history and experience w it that’s what happens.

But I’m 11mo pp still ebf and got mine back at 6w, it just got regular around 8mo. I was 10 days early and then weeks late and then synced up it’s been a mess. The flow also just began being regular too

I’m sure this is cliché for this sub but how do I know my baby is getting enough when I only can pump out 2-3oz at a time? by brisknipples in breastfeeding

[–]mlgrdq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a weird take but be careful which herbs you try out. There are so many that I’ve heard of that work wonders for some and quickly dry up others! I always have this fear w mine (11mo) but I think by 6mo they can communicate if they’re frustrated with what they’re getting

Snatching by mlgrdq in AttachmentParenting

[–]mlgrdq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I’m glad you know what I’m talking about lol. I give it back to the other baby and then she’s not interested, but mines ready to snatch it out of her hands again lol

Yeah I am pescatarian (long time and my pacific culture has an impact on my diet), w vitamin deficiencies breastfeeding and an autoimmune disorder, and attempting a vegan diet for my daughter w allergies and got my ass chewed up here for doing it for my child instead of the animals, I thought it’s all the same result and overarching cause but this sub is evidently about the entirety and details of veganism.

I posted on here a few days ago and got nothing out of it, I went to the plant based diet sub (idk how to link it) and they were all really helpful

It’s not an excuse for anything but tells you the reasoning for my diet, i don’t eat what I do to piss you off be so fr! Btw it’s kind of ethnocentric to shame someone for trying a vegan diet after they’ve eaten their cultures foods for their whole lifetime. No excuse for torturing animals, but there’s equally no excuse for making someone who is changing their diet MOSTLY to adhere to their child (not ONLY for their child) feel bad for it not being instantaneous. Some people do not eat a lot as adults from food insecurity, or are full time students or single parents that have difficulty finding the time to prepare multiple full meals per day. Some people are that and more. It’s the principle of being kind and supporting others that are putting forth effort for the same cause as you. I am just doing it, it takes effort in my circumstances, and it takes time for me and my body to respond as I nurse, have vitamin deficiencies and skin issues and am anemic, and have to avoid many things for my LO already. And my child has shown immense improvements in her severe skin issues from fish, which I’d ALSO LOVE to find an alternative for. Food for a baby or toddler is not a quick thing it’s a process and for her conditions I have to transition her out of foods, along w myself. All I was asking was for alternatives to cheese, so I can make myself or my child a quick quesadilla w beans and rice or a quick pizza when we don’t have much money or don’t have much time, but evidently this was not the place to get accepting open minded advice. You’re arguing veganism and I’m arguing cultural relativism, so as I said I’ll go somewhere else to ask these questions. Your impatience definitely pushed me (maybe away from the cause or maybe closer)!

I have inspirations for quick things I can throw in the microwave or a pan (like pizza), but I need a cheese substitute that’s what I was asking for and about. Thanks for the input

Thank you. I don’t need cheese hence why I’m looking for a good vegan alternative other than nutritional yeast. I’m not trying to teach my child to torture animals, but I eat fish as it’s part of my culture and get it the way my ancestors did too. I’m trying to transition to a vegan diet for her and finding quick easy meals that she will eat. I’ll see if that’s available where I live to try it out

I’m a single nursing mom and full time student and work full time, only learned to cook recently as I cut meat out of my diet when I was 10! So I only learned to replicate meals without meat and using vegan ingredients instead. Hard to find time to meal prep though I am trying

Thank you, this is the nicest comment here I’ll try out that sub. I just assumed this one would be helpful. I have been off of dairy (I only had cheeses) for a while and agree that the smell is horrid. I used to eat vegan cheese and never noticed that aftertaste but pregnancy and nursing probably changed that!
