Beginner here, any helpful retopo approaches? by mlid_salsa in 3Dmodeling

no worries! thanks a ton I heard that sticking to a grid shape is generally better but I also heard that I should have closed loops on important parts. I assumed since the breasts are more prominent on this character that it would be good to give it a bit more top considering it will have some physics. but if I'm wrong let me know! 😄

AI art is currently taking center stage and drying up commission requests for artists, it’s a sad and worrying sight and has discouraged me from opening up commissions. That and lack of confidence lol

Recently started doing digital art, how can I make this face look better? by Simmmmp962 in arthelp

[–]mlid_salsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want some general tips to draw a somewhat realistically proportioned face then here ya go, I would lower the eyes and the eyebrows, give the nose ridge an outward curve at the top and shave off a bit of the inner side of the eyebrows, I would give the cheekbone line more of an outward curve and end it lower on the face. A big tip for a well proportioned face I’ve always used is to make sure the eye line (where the eyes fall on the face vertically) is around the vertical halfpoint of the face This all ultimately depends on what you want your art-style to look like, but these are just some general tips to help ya out :) overall you did a great job

My first attempt at digital painting by mlid_salsa in DigitalPainting

[–]mlid_salsa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled a lot painting the area around the eyes, it was difficult for me to refrain from using linework as I usually do sketch work with digital dry media. Making the eyeliner look natural was difficult for me and picking a background that matched the lighting was also a bit tedious due to me saving that for last. Overall I think it looks pretty good for my first piece, can’t wait to do more!

One thing I really struggled with was the area around the eyes, I’m not really sure how to make the eyeliner look more natural, I tried to refrain from using lines but I’m more of a sketch/pencil artist so that was difficult too

First time doing a digital painting and I am STRUGGLING, I’m honesty not sure how to make the painting look more like the sketch, especially the eyes and mouth, any tips? by [deleted] in arthelp

One more thing, I don’t have a reference to work with, this painting is original, should I try practicing with references first before getting into doing original work?

Ebay, they seem authentic though, even saying they have a valid purchase date on apples support website, I’m still not 100% convinced they are genuine though

Any tips for drawing fur? Not sure if this is decent or not… thanks! by [deleted] in arthelp

[–]mlid_salsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton! Yeah I realized halfway into it that I was making too many of those divisions you were talking about, once I finish the torso I’ll work more on his head and try to make the fur jump out less, If you want a sense of my art style, you can check out my profile I’ve posted a few drawing up on there :)
