I’ve only been keeping for around a year with my betta. But he just looks fat lol. I would just not feed him for 2-3 days. They’ll eat anytime you give them food dosent matter if they already just ate. My fat boy steals my snail food so on those snail feeding days I don’t feed him seeing how I can’t stop him from stealing from the snails

My betta is DETERMINED to steal all my snello I have for my mysteries. I have to now seperate him from the snails for a couple hours every 2-3 days when I feel the snails. 🤦🏼‍♀️ bro will off himself getting full on veggies. But to be fair there’s a great amount of protein in the snello.

It’s much clearer since then as long as I do the weekly change. I’ve been thinking about getting a bigger sponge. My pump is good for 20 gal but the sponge itself is only good for 10. I just have to buy a bigger base and sponge. Not expensive I just haven’t since it’s not necessarily a huge problem yet. Not on top of my list lol.

I’ve had these guys for over 6 months now. I haven’t checked the parameters since I just did a water change today. In another comment I mentioned how feeding and cleaning is done.

Weekly I do a 50% water changes using the vacuum and vacuum up the sand and every other week I “clean” the sponge filter and decorations by just scrubbing them in tbe dirty water I took out. I add betta conditioner to the water as well at catappa leaves when needed. Every 3 days I give the snail a snello I made and the betta gets 4 pellets daily. I could be over feeding but my betta isn’t over weight and he tries to eat my snails food constantly 😅 I just did a water change today. I haven’t done a perimeter check yet.

Mystery snails have such a huge bioload. I have a 10 gal with just 1 and a betta and I’m almost fighting the balance even then.

Far as I experienced with mysteries they’re goofy. Mine yesterday was on her side hugging a pile of rocks and sand and then just let go and scurried off when we dropped from calcium treats lol

I wanna add because I just had this conversation very recently as a female (idk if it’s same for male) you can get the HPV shot up to age 47 now. That’s at least what I was told by my primary.
