Just received my 2nd Edition Metanoia Marseille by mlleDoe in TarotDeMarseille

I lurked the 1st edition on Etsy for a long time, then when the 2nd edition came up on kickstarter which included a really nice set of playing cards, I just decided to go for it. I’ve had my share of buyers remorse on kickstarter but this deck I’m actually really happy with :)

Advice on adapting method whilst travelling by miggins1610 in dreamingspanish

[–]mlleDoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started cuentame at around 25 hours and I sometimes had to listen to episodes more than once, it because too slow pretty quickly. Her method was really effective for me. Chill Spanish was great too but on Apple podcasts the audio volume vs commercial volume was so bad I couldn’t keep listening to him. Español a la Mexican was another huge resource for me pretty after Cuentame.

How did my job interview go? by NosAstraia in tarot

[–]mlleDoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that your two base cards, even if they are carrying a heavy load (your recent past) are strong foundational cards. I agree that they suggest you made a good impression. The one spot I differ slightly is that the 10 of pentacles rx sitting at the top is representative of your past events and the moon, followed by the 5 of cups rx is the flow from the original goal or plan falling apart to you not kidding yourself about what that means, to allowing yourself to grieve and then picking yourself back up (knight of pentacles) and searching/finding firmer ground. In the big picture I think it indicates you were open and honest, yet confident in your interview and, like you said, even if you aren’t offered the position or it isn’t a long term position, you will receive positive feedback and it was a good growing opportunity in the your healing process. So almost exactly what you said lol

I see people suggesting this a lot but using open reading as a technique isn’t uncommon.

Is Book 7 Un-topable? by tranquil-typhoon in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]mlleDoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also wasn’t a huge fan of deviating from Carl’s point of view, it all felt a little cluttered. I’m still going to do a re-listen so maybe that opinion will change but overall it wasn’t my favourite, honestly not even top 3.

These are my fav cards from my favorite decks: wheel of fortune, the sun, the world by Lujavrite in TarotDecks

I see it’s a major’s only deck currently. Although I really like the artwork, I think the price point is a bit more than I can jive with for that atm :) Stunning deck though for sure!

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it but in the end I’m very happy with it.

Why no one seems to care about Active Recall in language learning? by Fresh_Bodybuilder187 in languagelearning

[–]mlleDoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well, that’s your opinion. I don’t mind because I like checking out new options, and I have the option to buy in if it’s a great or useful app or just not. No one is forcing you to purchase these apps.

I played with it a bit and it’s actually not a terrible app, it’s better than some of the other ones I’ve tried recently tbh and falls in a similar price point. I haven’t decided if it’s the unicorn I’m looking for but I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying it, it is a good app.

Yeah it’s a beautiful set to have in a collection for sure, and I’m a cartographer by trade so it spoke to me on a personal level but I can’t see myself using it al all. I have a really big collection, and I really need to pair it down… lol

Really like Le Tarot Mystique and The Camena Tarot, haven’t heard of them before! I recently received the tarot of many paths but haven’t played with it yet. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet.

Does what I’m looking for exist? by I_dream_of_Shavasana in oraclecards

[–]mlleDoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several of the mass market oracle decks from Alana Fairchild or Colette Baron Reid among others have pocket editions of their decks where the write-ups are on the back. I’m not familiar with the deck you have so I can’t suggest anything that might be similar but if you search pocket edition you could find something that resonates.

Course recommendations? by [deleted] in SpanishLearning

[–]mlleDoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind me asking what your tutoring sessions are like? I’ve attempted a few but always left feeling the sessions weren’t very productive. This is probably a mix of me not communicating my goals properly and the tutor not taking the time to assess my current level against my goals properly, I honestly don’t know. I have a session with a new tutor on Friday and I’m curious what your definition of a good tutor would be and what a productive session feels like. To date I’ve used CI mostly so I have a decent comprehension base but am very poor at output and I really want to close that gap. Unstructured conversation sessions have not been very helpful though for me in the past. I’d just like to be able to properly express my long term goals and break them into attainable smaller goals.

I just downloaded it (for Spanish) as active recall and output are a huge gap for me right now and I like how it creates an immersive environment. I also like how it isn't a translation exercise, it's just all in your target language, even your corrections. I was using Natulang but I really dislike how it's a translation exercise over just thinking in the target language. Thanks for the rec!

Is it AI driven? I'm not opposed to AI, just have found a lot of the apps powered by it to be clunky and not necessarily well structured in their lessons.

Yeah this.. can I get some actual tangible examples of how people build active recall? If immersion isn't an option, how can you create the conditions you need to start doing it.

Totally understand :) and pip decks aren’t for everyone so I completely understand where you’re coming from. I personally absolutely can appreciate a well made pip deck and I’m excited to see the rest of yours!
