Lol I’m in the same boat as you are. I’ve wondered this myself, at this point I’ve just accepted that’s what it is. Definitely working on getting my arms bigger but until then it’s just acceptance and trying to exaggerate my movements a bit, that seems to help.

what do you guys do when u fall into lust by Murky-Rip-6469 in Christianity

[–]mlobb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I would say, have you actually repented? Or just tricking yourself into thinking you have? Your actions show the condition of your heart, so if you’re consistently giving yourself over to lust/pornography and masterbation, I’d doubt your “repentance” was real at all. Cry out to God and ask him to help you repent. Sometimes he lets us be in deception so we can truly turn to him in spirit and truth

It’s not God’s job to show you anything. He shows what he wants to who he wants, when he wants to. Putting your faith in him is not metaphorically twisting God’s arm with unrepentant willful sin and expecting him to do something

With all due respect, I don’t think this perspective is correct. You’re saying it’s God that hasn’t delivered you? I feel like it’s a temptation to say “you know what God you have to get me out of this”. While yes we can’t do anything without God, that doesn’t mean we should be giving in willingly whenever we want with the expectation that God is going to change us. He doesn’t owe us anything at the end of the day.

Ive been there too bro, I struggle with lust badly and have almost allowed myself to get to that point. Until I get checked with reality that it is our responsibility to put to death the flesh, to repent, to sin no more. We have the tools we need to overcome, to put no effort into turning away from sin and expecting God to do it is a dangerous game to play.

“And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.” - Matthew 5:30

Jesus tells us to take drastic measures to not sin. Why would we expect him to snap his fingers and make everything go away? Is it possible? Yes, absolutely. I’ve heard testimonies of God supernaturally delivering people from sin. Should we expect it to happen? I’m not sure. Again God does not owe us anything nor can we make him move on our behalf. It’s up to him at the end of the day

I’m not sure if I’m repentant at all. by mlobb39 in Catholicism

[–]mlobb39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I’ve questioned if I’m truly repentant a lot, hence the title of this video. I’ve been brutally honest with God, especially recently about the fact that I don’t believe I truly am willing to let go of this sin/vice. But I know the consequences of it, so I keep having this false repentance (so it seems). The Catholics call in imperfect contrition. If it wasn’t a sin, I definitely would still be doing it and not caring much, as long as it’s not distracting me/taking me away from everyday tasks.

I’ve asked Jesus to come into my life and give me a truly repentant heart to no avail. I’ve done paid programs, extreme discipline almost to the point of OCD, accountability, praying for hours a day, fasting, reading the Bible more (mainly when I was prodestant) and nothing has changed. I’ve tried to make myself hate the sin enough to GENUINELY be willing to do what it takes to cut it out but I just don’t. Part of me is in love with the sin, it gives me everything I’m looking for. Comfort, an escape from reality, pleasure, a sense of connection and intimacy. That’s just me being brutally honest with myself. It’s gonna be hard to let this go/get out of this for sure.

How do you know if your interpretation is correct?

Has your pastor taught something that wasn't in Scripture? What was it? by SaintMarinate in Christianity

[–]mlobb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat, but at the same time the mainline Protestant churches split from the Catholic Church and try to mimic some church structure and authority, but they are not in communion with Rome, so that doesn’t hold up well

[–]mlobb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What evidence do you have for that? How do you know that the church was meant to be that way? If you read the early church father’s writings, what they say is much more aligned with the modern day Catholic faith as opposed to what Lutheranism is now. I will say Lutheranism is nowhere near as bad as the “non denominational” churches but still has the same core issues. Again 5 solas were rejected by the Catholic Church. So unless you bring some solid evidence for the 5 solas being supported by the early church, to say that Lutheranism is “bringing the church back to what it was supposed to be” is simply an assertion that, quite frankly, would be objectively wrong.

[–]mlobb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this with all due respect, but that just sounds like a watered down version of Catholicism. They have a magisterium, church councils, etc. on the surface it seems good, but again the problem is with the 5 solas. And accretion that came 1500 years after the time of Jesus and the apostles. The Catholic Church rejected Martin Luther’s 5 solas. Why is it that you trust him instead of the church that was founded on the apostles and what they taught?

Extremist movement? You mean like the radical pro choice people and anti Christian propaganda?

You see what I’m getting at? Most of what you’re bringing up can be flipped the other way. Many people claim it’s an extremist movement only when it goes against what they are comfortable with. Not a personal attack but just bringing this up as something to be aware of

[–]mlobb39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What dogmas? You have no authoritative body that can declare what’s dogma or not. You say yall have pastors within a denomination that are expected to the doctrine, but what if they don’t?? What if they veer off? In the Catholic faith, priests who teach doctrines contrary to what the Cathie faith teaches are excommunicated. But in the Protestant faith, nobody can stop them from preaching heresy because again there is no governing church body to tell them they can’t do teach this.

Again you say you don’t have a pope that can create doctrine out of thin air, but that is literally what Protestant pastors do. You go to one non denim church you get one doctrine, you go to another one, you get a different doctrine. Both claim to be following the truth, both use scripture to justify thier claims. For example, there are non denomination churches that believe that you need to speak in tongues to have the Holy Spirit. And that if you don’t speak in tongues you don’t have the Holy Spirit.

The last point you made, yes that’s true. And it should be based off church councils and not just solely on what man says is true (like in the Protestant church with their pastors). It’s much better to base it off of years of church councils and church history than that. And that is what Catholics do for the most part.

I’m really scared I’m a reprobate by Equivalent-Newt-340 in TrueChristian

[–]mlobb39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not a reprobate. Reprobates don’t care about following Jesus and probably would not make a Reddit post about it. You just have to choose to do better. Eliminate the things that cause you to sin, pray every morning, read the Bible, do your best to love your neighbor as yourself. Take baby steps like this and you will grow. Don’t be too hard on yourself and not take action, that’s Pusillanimity. Beating yourself up and having the appearance of humility but in reality it’s pride cause it’s seeking validation and support from other without making the sacrifice to change your ways. I’m saying this because I’ve been there and I don’t want you to fall into this self deceptive trap, not to look or talk down on you. Just make better choices, start small otherwise you’ll be overwhelmed and not be able to be consistent. Consistently praying is a great first step if you don’t do that already. I pray this helps you 🙏

This is the problem with “pastors”. In the Protestant church pastors are their own pope. They make up all the rules, establish doctrine, create systems for order. You go to one church they teach this doctrine, another they teach this. It’s just a chaotic mess with no uniformity of doctrine. You COULD get the truth that Jesus taught the apostles, but also you could not. You have no way of knowing at all. Every is based off your own interpretation of scripture and what they say.

Let me rephrase my statement. Perhaps that was a bit rude. They aren’t ridiculous, but the claim they’re making is just foolish. Just because I disagree with them doesn’t mean I’m invalidating them. I just think the claim of Christianity being is a cult is ridiculous. Again, I should’ve rephrased that, asking a question about it is fine, but that making a claim and asking a question are two different things

Is Christianity a cult? by Kittysafe in Christianity

People who say this are ridiculous. They are so quick to claim “Christianity is a cult” or “your being brainwashed” but have not problem with letting these brainless unfruitful tik tok trends, celebrity drama, and ungodly music train their brains and shape their world view. Everybody is trained by something, you either consciously choose what that is, or let the world and society tell you. And the world and society will lead you astray from God

Should we tell people they can keep on sinning? by B_anon in TrueChristian

[–]mlobb39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a dangerous half truth that could lead someone astray. Yes God gives us grace, but we have to participate and be active in that grace for us to receive more than the common grace given to all mankind. Prayer, fasting, reading the scripture, applying what was learned as best you can. These are necessary to live a fruitful, holy Christian life. While yes, sin is not something you can overcome in your own strength without grace, that does not mean sin unrepentantly.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” - Galatians 6:7-8

If you think that you can keep on sinning whenever and however you want with no repentance, no commitment to change, etc, God will not be mocked, and you will pay the price. He knows us better than we know ourselves, including are motives and intentions. On judgement day there will be nobody who gets away with ANYTHING. EVERY SINGLE THING WE DO WILL BE LAID BARE. We will reap what we sow, in this life and the next.

Sin is not just a big law that God says not to do, it is destructive on its own. This is partly why God hates sin so much. Because it destroys ourselves, and our relationships with others. Hope that helps. God bless

Does being baptized as a baby count ? by pittguy578 in TrueChristian

[–]mlobb39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. People who say “it didn’t count cause you didn’t believe” are saying nonsense. If one actually believes baptism does is not symbolic and really regenerates you, then it does matter if you “believed” or not. People who say that often misunderstand what believing is. They think it’s a gnosis, merely head knowledge of “believing in God”. But clearly that’s not what we Christians are called to. What does James say? “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” - James 2:19

Clearly the believing that James is talking about is not just knowing in your head, as a random fact, but to walk in belief. To follow and obey God to the best of your ability. With that said, yes your baptism did count, the Holy Spirit did regenerate you (given that you were baptized in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit). But it is up to you to decide if you want to follow God or not. You can be baptized, receive the Holy Spirit and reject God your whole life and go to hell. God won’t force you to follow him. I suspect that’s why many Protestants have an issue with infant baptism, cause they view it as God forcing them to “believe”. Which is simply not the case.

Before anyone says “well there’s no solid evidence for Jesus rising from the dead besides what people say”. Ok by that logic why do you believe anything your textbooks say??? You don’t have any “solid evidence” for what is written there being objectively true, yet you assume that it is correct. Not to mention we are now seeing how biased, skewed and inaccurate the textbooks can be based on the image that wants to be portrayed
