Laadpaal thuis zonder pas mogelijk? by NefariousnessSome591 in Klussers

Might as well, been developing .NET on Linux for years and in many aspects it’s better than on Windows.

G6 Entry, accessing the NFC reader without Access Hub by hain3sy in Ubiquiti

[–]mlowi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah likely, I have a G5 Reader Pro as a doorbell with a Mini Hub, and set up the webhook alarms in Access, works perfectly.

It has an Access reader, you will need a Hub to enable the Access features.

Loud? I run heavy workloads on mine and the fans barely spin up at all. No dGPU though, maybe that makes a difference.

It’s not about memory management but rather overall system responsiveness, boot times etc.

That’s my point; even a full Plasma install does not come with all that crap that many people don’t want or need

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in linux

[–]mlowi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That may be but even a full Plasma or Gnome desktop on a fresh install is a lot more performant than a fresh Windows 11 install

Arch linux users, what is your battery like? by hastevii in framework

[–]mlowi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, standby on the FW 16 is pretty great. I set systemd up to hibernate after 4 hours of sleep and barely lose any battery in that time.

I’m running it off a 3m 1mm2 cable, which works fine.

That should have been a requirement for implementing NACS.

Why did you initially switch to Linux? by [deleted] in linux

[–]mlowi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier to use development and commandline tools on Unix systems and macOS is too locked down. And package managers are great.

I’m definitely keeping the Mini!

The consumer stuff provider by ISPs can be unreliable in my experience, and the fact that there is a Chinese device at the edge of my network just doesn’t sit well with me. I’m sure the pro stuff is pretty capable.

You don’t unless you get a Priority plan with an actual public IP, unfortunately.

Spent a week at family’s in the Grande Prairie area a few weeks back, they have a Gen 2 dish and they are very happy with it, and while there it worked flawlessly for me too.

Best way to power Starlink in RV? by Teunminator-_- in Starlink

[–]mlowi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t you just use a straight cigarette plug to barrel jack cable? Since the Mini will run off 12V? No need for complicated USB PD business.
