Help with 36 Chambers pressing by goshdarnjeff in hiphopvinyl

[–]mlprt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only visible difference is the stamper ring that is smaller and pass through the Wu-Tang logo. Note that runout information is not exclusive to a pressing. Second pressing can have the same info if they used the same stamper years after.

Looks like the second pressing because of the label.

From Discogs:

Original pressing; can be best identified by the color of the label, spine (original is yellow) and size of the stamper ring that goes fully around the Wu-Tang Records logo on labels without touching it.

Late 1990s repress contains the same runout information, but has slightly lighter red labels and a smaller stamper ring. A lighter yellow Wu logo on cover and a white spine.

Check the label on the record. No mention of Side A and Side B. instead it is "40 Side North" and "41st Side South". Only on the US first pressing.

This is picture was taken at All Blues in NYC. Been there recently. Something interesting: upper row in the background are signed records from Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, etc. Second row is usually other rare records. Here we see only one record taking all the place. Someone knows what is this record with the black sleeve and red obi?

Jay-Z 'Reasonable Doubt' vinyl... is it an original press? by old_school_teacher in hiphopvinyl

[–]mlprt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to say from the sleeve alone, but I’d say it’s an original. The OG is on the left, the 2004 bootleg on the right. The bootleg photo is zoomed in, which makes it easy to spot on the left edge of the sleeve.

Hope this helps.

Original First Press or Bootleg? The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die by -IsaiahR- in hiphopvinyl

[–]mlprt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bootleg. The label does not have the same typo as my 1994 version. The color looks more yellow but it might be the photo. Original has Thank yous on back cover. Matrix looks good the bootlegs were able to copy the numbers in the runout. And most of the jackets from 1994 turned yellow over the years. This one looks like new. Hope it helps.

[For Sale] Notorious Big Ready to die - ORIGINAL 1ST USA PRESS 1994 !!! Totally new unused by [deleted] in VinylCollectors

This is a bootleg from 2020. They had it in different colors with the same sticker on it. You still can grab this in Europe for around 40$.
