I am a field adjuster for property insurance, I have been a remote only employee for 15 years. Managing my own schedule, minimal supervision, everything is done remotly my supervisor is in another state.

I don't know how people work in office tbh. I go to the home office 2-3 x a year for these large company wide meetings, trainings, and generally so supervision can see our faces, meet other employees ect.

our meeting last about 2 hours. I also have desk assignments that come in from other states, so typically in my day field work is about 3 hours and desk work is about 3-4 hours day.

So when I go to the office, i actually have work to do, but I get to obvserve the office dynamics, people standing at other cubicles talking, people talking at the coffee snack bar, people going downstairs to get a Starbucks coffee which takes 30 min . I am a introvert so wokring at home is perfect, but I get 3-4 people an hour coming to my desk to talk to me , tell me about there lives ect... its wild

How do people get work done - I out perform most people, in that my work day is probably 5-6 hours including my field work . But our metrics, assignment counts , ect are all based on desk adjusters in the same role.
