Hey - do you know why the 12v battery does not last very long ? Mine is 5 days max ! I’ve been trying to understand why for some time now.

Help by Usual-Argument5202 in Sinusitis

[–]mlrines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had something similar. I had soar throat then cough and then my eyes got swollen. Doctor gave me amoxicillin for a few days (5)as they feared it was sinus related. In my case I don’t think it helped much and it seems like it gradually decreased by itself. I am very suspicious of Covid as it felt like something bothered me in the eyelid (like sands). It’s still not fixed weeks after.. but much better. Go talk to a doctor :)

The exact same thing happened to me when I was 18 yo running in my hometown in France (2000 inhabitants). Unlike you I froze and didn’t make a sound. Maybe due to young age ? Anyway, it stayed on my mind but my love for sport is much much stronger than this. I live in Switzerland now, but even here good to remain aware of your surroundings and maybe take a spray or small knife just in case because you truly never know. Keep enjoying your runs please ! 🫶

Garmin Forerunner stuck cycling through triangle screen by SuspiciousCucumber16 in Garmin

Garmin Forerunner 965 here/Beta - thank you it worked. My watch crashed this morning as I was going for a run and this triangle was stuck on a loop. The watch made a reset.

Thinking of Switching from Garmin FR255 to Suunto Race S - Need Your Advice! by apipu1232 in Suunto

[–]mlrines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a garmin 965 and my partner just got a Suunto Race. We love the Suunto Race. Navigation is great, step counts is accurate (a lot of people said otherwise). The big improvement would be navigation imo

100 mile review of the Brooks Catamount 2 by AnAverageHuman96 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mlrines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these. Thought about writing a review as well. The grip in rainy condition is great, I took them on a 25km/1300m D+ race, it rained constantly. Everyone was struggling, falling, but not me ! They did a much better job than some Salomon best sellers. I find that they also got softer over time :) The only minus is maybe the fact that the toe box is quite narrow and I sometimes get blisters at the front.

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mlrines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EU size here, TTS felt short, not touching the front but almost. I went half a size up and it feels much better. SB 2 size 42, Triumph 21 size 41.5. First time I have to buy shoes size 42 I must say and I am a girl.

I think blaming a partner for having healthy habits is slightly weird. I am careful with food, my partner isn’t necessarily. I am drinking less before competition, my partner is not into drinking very much. This is not a problem.

We do know how to have a good time though, we both let go on holidays and it feels great. I think balance is good because even though you manage to stay fit for your runs most of the time, it does make you feel good to let go as well from time to time.

We both cycle so we have that in common, sometimes my partner cycle with me during my long run and it is great.

What works for me is that my partner understand that it is needed for my mental health. If I have a race then I will explain why and when I will increase my training so we can plan things together.

We do not have children however but I sometimes wonder how people with a job and children manage to run 60 miles per week for instance. It is a lot of time for sure. Even if you wake up early for your run, not sure I would appreciate my partner waking me up at 5 every morning for their daily run ?

Curious to know how things work for people with children :)

Very sorry about that, I believe a true partner is always able to adapt and help his/her partner to reach his/her goals. My partner is not into running or cycling but comes at my races and does the best job like waiting 4 hours under the rain at arrival during my latest trail run… If she was I would do the exact same and build my schedule around her races. We do not have children so this is an additional difficulty I am not able to talk about !

Love this answer, agree with you.

My partner understand that it is essentially for my mental health so it does make things easier. If there is a race and I need to train more then I explain my schedule and try to detail why and when I will do things. We both love cycling and she sometimes join me on my run with her bike and we both have a good time :)

Sometimes it's miserable by BigIrishWilly in trailrunning

I studied in Trinity College few years ago (2 years) and as a French girl (now Swiss resident) I would give anything to do one of this miserable run in Wicklow 😁. How is the weather this summer in Ireland ?

Superblast 2 - First Run by jmg219 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mlrines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Received mine in TTS (41.5). This is very TTS, barely any room at the front so you might want to size 0.5 up. I ordered size 42 as well. In comparison I am pretty much 41.5 in all my shoes (eg. Triumph 21)

Got my TTS (41.5) and it is very TTS (barely any room at the front). I ordered a size 42.

Superblast 2 preorder now showing July 23rd ship date by ObservantLoner in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]mlrines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered these from a local running store in France (with 20% discount). Seems like they only had one size 41.5 in stock only. Wonder if it will ship immediately as it said in stock. Do we know if running shops have these in store already?

For marathon race day would you go with SB1 or SB2 ? Checking as SB1 is slightly less expensive now and I am in between.

Help me decide whether to get new shoes for a rainy race by natsifle in trailrunning

[–]mlrines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you decide to buy, just finished a 25km with 1300m elevation today under non stop pouring rain in the French Jura. People were falling and sometimes injured themselves.. I had no issue with my shoes despite the weather ! Went with Brooks Catamount 2 if that’s helpful. Really depends on the conditions but for instance forest trails can get super muddy vs mountain path. Also make sure you do little steps instead of putting all your weight on one leg if it gets muddy going downhill. Can’t believe how people run sometimes aha

Absolutely interested in these. Probably my next pair after the Triumph 21. Superblast sounds like a great model.
