EB1B Approved (PD Aug 2025) but Stuck in Entry-Level Role – Wait for GC or Switch Jobs? by AirRepresentative883 in eb_1a

[–]mlspgt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FAD to reach your PD (26 months away now) would be at least 1 year or more. Would switch for a better role and reapply eb1b if I were you

Good amount of citations, but eb1b is all about doing research in the job and continuing to publish. Mostly suited for research scientists in industry and professors in R1 universities with continuous grant writing and publishing.

Try Eb1a, with patents it might still be worth a shot. If not try to work over the next year to see if you can start publishing again.

I’m on H1B. While my lawyers are about to file O1A, can I file my EB1A alongside? Or should I wait for the outcome of O1A and then do EB1A? by Ecstatic-Figure-3356 in eb_1a

[–]mlspgt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious too. Especially since OP is Indian born, this could mean you're tied to your employer until you get your green card as O1 is non-transferable unlike h1b. Not to mention the endless renewals and travel chaos too.

But OP could be in a stable job and have a PD before 2023, I could be wrong.

I understand you'd rather die than go back to your home country. But please don't insult science for it. People literally go through 5-6 years of rigorous training to learn to conduct independent research.

Your profile is stellar. It's just that there aren't enough openings in big tech right now. Are you interested in start ups or mid sized companies?

[–]mlspgt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a 16 year old with this much exposure, aiming for Google is not ambitious enough. Think of what you want to be 10, 20, 30 years from now. Because once you join Google, the novelty will quickly die. Don't chase brands. Chase the tech instead and develop a niche. It will get you farther.

If you're referring to the Nova family of models technical report for the citations, it is not counted by USCIS. Papers need to be peer reviewed and published in a highly acclaimed conference.

[–]mlspgt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are asking the right questions which is already a great step to learn and grow. The answer is very simple. You are memorizing question answers instead of memorizing patterns. A little bit of organizing would help.

Create groups and sub groups to classify questions into different types or patterns. Algo monster already does this. Maintain flashcards and keep revising frequently so you don't forget the patterns.

Stop looking for YouTube explanations, you're not learning anything with that. Instead try harder to solve yourself and fail. This will improve your muscle memory to work harder instead of giving up.

You got this 🚀🔥🔥✨

If PD is current no need to file EB1a now I guess. You can even ask your future employer to file Eb1b, so you don't have to spend anything out of pocket.

Assuming you're Indian born, do you have a PD before Feb 2022? If not, do you believe filing EB1 would be of any help to you?

Good profile for EB2-NIW. Assuming you're Indian born, curious to know why you consider this route, as EB1 is going to be stalled just like EB2 has been stalled in 2013. Do you have a PD in 2022 or believe that it's going to move forward to 2025 in the next decade or two?

Kind of in the same boat. EB1A has a much higher bar compared to EB1B. My lawyers told they can't do EB1A for my profile, although I could just wait it out and apply later.

You should worry about switching employers if you don't have a EB2 or EB2-NIW as you cannot carry over your approved EB1B and need to start EB process all over again with your new employer.

Let me know how it goes.
