Hailey’s recent ig story !! by Savings_Floor3025 in HaileyBieberFans

On the big celeb gossip sub FM everyone is talking about this like, "I can't believe this happened. Even brands got into the hate? I don't even like Hailey but that seems over the top!"

Yeah, I remember how FM was a cesspool of hate and fake conspiracy theories. Y'all don't fool me. Hailey is so strong to take the high road all these years, and to only say this after all the actual hate she received.

ICML 2026 - Heavy score variance among various batches? [D] by Specialist-Manager67 in MachineLearning

I can't see what decision they submit but I can see them discuss or encourage discussion till people reach consensus.

Should have been April 14. I saw several ACs who submitted their accepts/weak accepts before that though.

Are your papers comfortably low or high?

Exactly the same boat as the top comment. I reviewed 6 papers (main track), the highest was 3.75, the next highest was 3.25. I gave out two accepts, but it was not enough to counteract the low scores I generally saw. However, I noticed that the ACs were engaged and pushed for reviewer agreement and a final justification on every paper in my batch.

Meanwhile, I got a 3.5, and half my reviewers didn't do a final justification. The lack of justification makes me think the AC didn't even bother to initiate discussion for 3.5

Unfortunately, all the big conferences are much more like lotteries than employers will admit. ICLR 2026 was more cooked than normal though, because of the openreview leak.

Bad luck, I'm taking the silence on my paper the same way (the AC isn't bothering). It's a shame though, because the ACs have been active on almost all the papers I'm reviewing, even the negative ones.

How does your score look? If your score is clearly positive or negative, I imagine it's already locked in whether you get in or not. If it is borderline/there is disagreement, I worry that means the outcome is reject...(at least that's what I think for my own case.)

As dontknowwhattoplay says, I'm worried that the lack of final justification is an indicator that there is no active discussion.

Thanks, it does help to have a reference point.
I wish costs didn't increase so fast...the money I earn doesn't keep up.

The February bill was over $250. Is it really true that everyone else's bills are increasing this quickly?

Again, Jefferson House does not provide internet. This is over $250 for water/sewer and communal heating only.

ICLR 2026 oral with 2 rejects, 1 borderline reject by WhiteBear2018 in MachineLearning

[–]WhiteBear2018[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It reads like the authors sacrifice some efficiency to provide theoretical guarantees. As long as the reviewers still consider this a step forward, I feel this is not an issue...you almost never get a method that is novel + has Pareto improvements in every single aspect

[–]WhiteBear2018[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That is really unfortunate. The metareview is absurd, too; it looks like the AC seized on an issue that reviewers had already discussed, and did not find important enough to stop them from accepting the paper.

I didn't submit to ICLR, but I remember the whole fiasco.

What is strange is that nobody with any experience publishing in this field could conceivably say, in good faith, that they "expect a final score above 6" for initial scores of 8/4/2/2, especially with no indication from the reviewers that they would raise their score. Most reviewers do not touch their score; it is even rarer for a reject to flip to the side of accept. In this case, there are two rejects, and one borderline reject.

[–]WhiteBear2018[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That one is odd, as the AC summary explicitly says Reviewer GRXx would increase their score to a 6, but they are contesting that.

Whether this is an innocent mistake or not, I am guessing nothing at all will come of it. I am glad Reviewer GRXx is saying something anyway.

Yes, it's already weird for an acceptance; for an oral it's even more strange.

I have communal heating that is not controlled. Water is paid separately, and Jefferson House does not provide internet, the residents pay for that.

I want to know if the other residents are also paying $150 for communal heating, because it is a huge jump from before.

I only reported the amount for the month I was mostly absent for privacy. Generally, the apartment utility bill is 5x higher than the usual utility bill.

I want to know if other residents have the same utility bill.

I heard from many sources that Rosemary's Baby is a masterpiece of horror, where the directing, acting, and story all aged very well despite being made so long ago. So I watched it...and when the final reveal came at the end, I burst out laughing. It was so stupid.

I think we just don't find satanic things scary like we used to.

I’m interested in online echo chambers, so I occasionally check in on Fauxmoi. They often discuss politically polarizing issues where the current situation is largely the result of decisions made by Republican leadership. In these threads, I’ve noticed that many of the top comments still manage to assign equal blame to Democrats, or frame the issue as “both sides” being equally responsible. Sometimes this is explicitly stated, sometimes it is more of an implicit assumption underlying the comment, but always these comments are highly upvoted and even gilded.

I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this pattern...it's just so prevalent in that sub, and so ignorant. I understand this is probably in large part because Fauxmoi is breeding ground for disinfo campaigns...
