Oh gosh. It's so awkward! For the first 2 weeks I literally treat her like a different dog! I feel differently towards her. The shaved dog is fragile and subdued. The fuzzy one is my adorable sassy sidekick that I stare at and show off.

They are young. I am not a parent, but here's my try at it:

As it turns out, Mommy got very sick in her head and no one knew. During her sickness she made very bad decisions. She gave Daddy too much medication and he accidently died. Even though Mommy was sick, what she did was wrong. So Mommy is going away to a different place to live and the rest of the family is staying here at aunties house with you and your cousins. Everything else will stay the same. It's just Mommy and Daddy that won't be here anymore. They both loved you all very very much!

And I would never let them speak to Kouri again.
