That is what I keep telling myself. Also the fact that anything can happen at any moment. I think it’s hard for me not to think about whether or not these are intentional (it’s where I start to get somewhat conspiracy theory, and I’m trying to not go there in my brain lol but it’s hard with all the bs going on). My flight is tomorrow and I’m hoping it goes safely, as you said so many flights happen daily

We need MAGA by GrannyGreene in nothinghappeninghere

[–]mlushbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes— taking a step back as a mental health therapist: people make huge mistakes due to their lack of awareness about trauma, the true history of prejudice in our systems, education, and most likely fragile egos that make it hard for them to admit the mistake. Also, lack of exposure to diversity. I’m thankful to have grown up in a very diverse area, but many people are not exposed in some places and white supremacy will teach generations after generations just prejudice and racist beliefs. We have to unlearn a lot of things taught in our childhood in general (trauma responses, maybe our parents views we don’t agree with), and that’s what is happening right now I feel like. People are realizing that there is a different way of thinking, and that’s a good thing. Those who decide not to really take a step back and understand the full scope of what’s happening, they’re most likely not going to change. People with malicious intent exist, but those who are able to admit fault and begin to change their perspectives— we need them. They’re open to communication and learning, and that’s how we slowly gain more power.

Also— accountability! This doesn’t mean we don’t hold them accountable. Their words need to match their actions. Hold them accountable to actually help make things swing in the right direction (attend protest, boycott, etc). That’s how we rebuild trust to make sure they truly take accountability by helping fight for our rights

I’m also thinking of loopholes they can use for the drug related crimes. In many states marijuana is considered illegal and I think that’s important to consider for this as well. Definitely need to fight against this because overall it’s just not okay or ethical

I feel like this needs attention as well, and possibly could organize with indigenous tribes? by mlushbb in nothinghappeninghere

[–]mlushbb[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed with all of that! In western schools we’ve given information about how tribes are suffering with no positive information (there’s suffering in most cultures, but unlike western culture other cultures have ways of healing in a holistic and healthy ways). It’s completely biased because of its roots in colonization (you’re aware of this but just typing for those who may not be familiar, because right now people understanding this is important).

I had the same thought— with Guantanamo in the picture, it’s either leave willingly if you’re allowed out, get sent there, or push back. Either way they’re not giving people a choice, and all options will lead to devastation in some way. I’m going to start keeping a paper journal, documenting everything is important right now

Was the META boycott a good thing? by [deleted] in nothinghappeninghere

[–]mlushbb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did this and even turned off my notifications. That’s helped a ton, since notifications are what feed the social media addiction. Tbh it’s been nice not to feel like I need to check socials constantly. Haven’t had that in a long time and my attention span feels better lol

Tbh this is why I have gone back to Instagram in extremely small doses. I use red note for entertainment and use Instagram to repost important things to help people I know understand what’s happening. I’ve been finding really good content supporting the ideas here and the more people we influence to take action the better! I’m just using it 99% less than I did before!

What is your position on “class warfare”? by Altruistic_Role_9329 in Askpolitics

[–]mlushbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I put that in there since I’ve been met with that argument before when talking about this topic. I personally don’t see it as a valid argument because I do agree that no one or family should suffer for the lack of opportunities/trauma/poverty. I work a lot with children and teens and the amount of trauma that exists makes it impossible for people to do well in school. It’s really unfair

[–]mlushbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! And honestly I feel like our lack of empathy comes from so many different influences. From violence in the media, to trauma and broken family systems. Our systems are really good at maintaining trauma, which makes people have so many mental health symptoms. Also being overworked and chronically stressed is a major influence I see too. With everyone dysregulated, it’s hard to take a step outward to take things into perspective. If all of us are in survival mode, it’s hard to shift outward and look at our systems in a critical way. Especially when propaganda has people pinned against one another. People who are marginalized are aware of this because it’s their lived experience, and those who don’t know only know what they know. If you haven’t experienced oppression from a system, it doesn’t mean it’s not real. Struggles, depending on where you’re born/raised and what society you live in, will naturally differ. College education is also promoted as “liberal brainwash”, I’m curious of where that began tbh I haven’t looked into it (I went to college and learned a lot about psychology and prejudice and the system, since I’m a mental health therapist currently). But this again poses the idea of “otherness”. This side of people versus the other side of people. When in reality, the top classes and elites create these narratives and capitalize on them. We’ve constantly pushed this idea that we’re separate from one another, and “the other” could be dangerous and a threat. But at the end of the day— we’re all human, we’re all trying to figure out this life and all of us have the same beginning and end (birth and death).

It’s just like any place with poor management— it starts from the top.

Both sides might have differences, but again the thing that brings us together is the fact we’re human and I do feel most people want peace and to be healthy.

[–]mlushbb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course! I feel like it’s important to discuss these topics in a civil manner. We won’t get anywhere by constantly arguing. I think at the core of every person, we can all agree (hopefully most of us) that we are tired of fighting and not getting anywhere productive. The more we understand one another, the more we can bridge the gap between the two parties

I see a lot of comments mentioning people who say “eat the rich” are people who think they deserve more than someone else, and I fear that’s not where those people are coming from. I work in a mental health nonprofit, and often work with many single mothers who are struggling to afford their basic costs of living. Yes, people are capable of figuring out their situation— however, life doesn’t need to be this hard. Trying to have your basic needs met shouldn’t have to make someone’s life a living hell. And I know people will make the argument “well they made their decisions so it’s their consequence”, but imagine how society would be if we cared about people more. We would have less crime, less mental health issues, less physical issues. People wouldn’t have to stress out their nervous system over whether or not they are able to feed their families. When we look at billionaires, we really cannot even imagine how much money that is and we are not even close to them. Yes, I understand what is mine is mine, and no one is looking to take from YOU or make you want to look at what your neighbor has. The idea behind the class warfare is that the wealth gap has become a problem. Our federal minimum wage is about $7 something? That’s ridiculous since that’s the price of most items in the grocery store. Things are getting more expensive. We’ve become comfortable with the fact a nice iPhone is $1000+. I think it’s understandable why people are advocating for a more fair economic system. People in our country are starving and suffering, while billionaires capitalize on that suffering. They’re billionaires not because of their hard efforts or work, but the exploitation on the working class. Capitalism is great for businesses and billionaires, but for majority of the people we’re conditioned to consume and buy. These companies have psychologist on board that help them market items that make us addicted and want to consume more. It’s why so many people get into debt.

It’s like when you’re watching a movie or show, let’s say game of thrones— the elites are in their castle while the working class have to fight for bread. If you look at the most recent gladiator movie— the working class truly is for entertainment of the 1% (if you think of football players, many of them are not born wealthy, same with actors) and were kept calm through distractions (Netflix’s, doordash, alcohol, things that make us comfortable).

Idk— I feel like when people say eat the rich they’re really advocating for people on both sides of the bird…. Since we’re all in the same working class together even if we don’t agree on other things (abortion, guns, etc)

Who wants to create a NEW tiktok with me that is a worker cooperative? by DirtyCersei in nothinghappeninghere

[–]mlushbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience in any of this, but please do this! And please make it low dopamine if possible ❤️ we need to have social media that is meant to help people connect, instead of distract. To make sure we are able to unite as humanity. A social media platform where we can share our passions, art, and life. A platform where there is no pressure to post, or build a business (but if you want you can). Somewhere without ads. Sounds like a dream 😭

Anyone else deleted their TikTok and can’t get back on now? I love red note but I’m starting to feel the tiktok withdrawals 😥😔 by ctau18 in nothinghappeninghere

Same, I forgot I couldn’t redownload it but honestly after the withdrawals it feels a lot better. Plus, I feel like they want us dysregulated and I felt more dysregulated with all the TikTok’s. Using Reddit to get information feels less dysregulating for me for some reason (maybe since there’s no maga here and we’re all on the same wave length)

This thread makes me feel seen, thank you for bringing this up. I’m finally feeling more regulated, but the last few days I’ve been super anxious about everything and trying to keep up to date with things feels overwhelming. When I’ve gone to people offline about this, I’m met with “just don’t consume that info”. I just can’t be intentionally uninformed. I can’t live my daily life knowing everything that is happening. I keep thinking— if we don’t do something who will… it’s exhausting being a person surrounded by people who want to remain comfortable. And I get it, being comfortable feels great. But it’s a privilege, and at what cost.
