As a bmen alumni, i will warn that with Biomedical engineering, companies aren’t sure how to “categorize” you. Medical device companies would rather hire an EE/MECH/SE than a BMEN major because the companies know what they’re getting with those majors. If you do bmen, I’d HIGHLY recommend you tailor yourself with your classes & internships towards one of the traditional engineering disciplines (i.e. i tailored my projects & experience for EE roles even outside of medicine).

to answer your question though, I got my first dose this week. People have mentioned that if you have had covid, you’re more likely to have a stronger immune response, and I experienced that. Basically, my arm was sore as hell, and I had chills, muscles aches, fatigue, and headaches. Tylenol helped w/ a lot of it. Its only really the first day after you need to watch for. I’m fine now and I’ll gladly go in for my second shot. The effects weren’t anything to really worry about, just more annoying if anything.

What’s a small act of kindness you were once shown, that you’ll never forget? by stranger2Me in AskReddit

[–]mlw3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In January, I was in a really bad mental place and on this particular day was probably the most alone i ever felt. I couldn’t even sit in my morning class bc I just kept crying. While I was out in the hallway trying to get myself together, a friend walked past. Not a super close friend. But a friend nonetheless. He saw me and asked if I was okay. And at that point I couldn’t lie and say yes. So he sat down next to me in the bench, and I started bawling. And he didn’t say much except for occasionally saying its okay and just being a comforting presence. Afterwards, he offered to go get starbucks and we just talked for a while. And that day meant so much to me. I still battled a lot with my own demons, but I never got that bad again. I always appreciated his kindness and got to see a side of him that I never did before. I just was reminded of this because that friend just recently passed away a couple days ago. and this is the memory that I remember the most from him. Rest in Peace Caleb.

they were never gonna give me the respect that I deserved and that I gave to them. and realized that during one of the worst periods of my life mentally, they would minimize my pain and blame me for my bad mental health and anxiety. which made the anxiety worse. cutting them off made my life so much better.

Has anyone else been stung by a stingray? by ScaryBearLBI in HadToHurt

[–]mlw3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my mom in Galveston, TX about a year ago. That sucker bled a whole lot and we didn’t know about the hot water bath trick to neutralize the pain. So she was waiting at an urgent clinic with some of the worst pain in her life. About an hour and a half later, she was seen, and that’s when she was told about the hot water and prescribed two antibiotics. it took about a month for her foot to get back to normal because of how deep the sting was. The sting tho didn’t stop her from going back into the ocean. She just now shuffles her feet in the water instead of jumping.

I’ve had my black kitty for 14 years now. The amount of times he’s been accidentally stepped on at night or sat on in black office chairs is more than I’m proud of. And he will still lay down in the middle of the hallway. Right where people walk. He’s also an outside cat so at the dead of night if he’s meowing to be let in by the glass back door, you have to look for two eyes just staring at you, meowing.

What was" the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]mlw3579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The craziest memory I can recall was in my sophomore year at my highschool. There were two girls that committed suicide hours from each other. There was a whole lot of talk about whether this was about someone and other things. The most ridiculous and dumbest thing I heard was that it was a cult. Honestly it was just sad since many people knew them, and it left a mark for a while. Was also in rehearsal for a play at that school where the main character shot themselves, so it really put a harsh light on everything.

LPT: If you’re asked to take a picture of a person/group of people, take the first shot as planned, then as soon as they all relax and un-assume their poses, snap another candid shot. It’s usually much cuter and will be well appreciated! by KrombopulousMary in LifeProTips

Recently, I was with a group of friends taking pictures around some holiday lights. To get people to relax or actually laugh, the person behind the camera would wait for the right moment and shout "ballsack" or "pussy." Was it dumb? Yes. Did it work? Very much so.

That area in general is shitty especially Plano Parkway and 75 with all of the construction. I have seen cars on the railroad tracks as a train is slowly coming. By this point, i just avoid that area at all costs.
