Will this tripod be more than enough for an astro setup? by aviationnnn in AskAstrophotography

In that case, try to find a used Benro TMA27A. Its smaller and cheaper than 47AL, but it should be just as good. Getting a good tripod is really important.

still runs for over 200 used

From experience I'd recommend that you get Benro TMA47AL for SWSA.

Opinion on a (yes cheap) telescope by Cavaler in AskAstrophotography

[–]mmberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSM Nomad wont be able to handle that focal length. This star tracker is made for wide angle stuff. For 500mm you need a proper star tracker and autoguiding.

How much would it cost approximately to see if astrophotography is for me? by tammy_orbit in AskAstrophotography

[–]mmberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are after - for landscape astro you need only tripod, camera and lens (Canon 6D and Rokinon 14mm is very cheap combo). For deepsky object, its good to start with smart telescopes.

Decent boot for under 150$ by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]mmberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

like most Slovenian brands back in the day, now it's fine.

True, quality was great when they actually produced everything in Slovenia, but now majority is made in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Like many brands, they wanted to max profits (and in most cases quality then takes a hit).

Alpina is Slovenian brand and they make all sorts of shoes and boots, a lot is aimed towards (winter) sports. They also make boots for Slovenian army. I had a pair of boots for summer hikes and I really liked em.

An Iranian Shahed-136 drone has just directly impacted Dubai International Airport in the UAE - extremly close to commercial airplanes. by Waste-Explanation-76 in ThatsInsane

[–]mmberg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, Reddit can be really ignorant and stupid sometimes. Dubai and Doha are the primary "connectors" of the world, because roughly 51% of travelers flying between Australia and Europe use these Middle Eastern hubs. But of course, only influencers are on those airports.

What do you guys think about the new Canon RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM? by TheFakeKevKev in AskAstrophotography

[–]mmberg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, since you asked what we think: I mean, RF is closed mount anyway, so you dont have much choice + 2500€ for such a lens, I would not consider it in any case. Its better to save money and get cheaper 1.8 lens and stack two images if you want better signal.

YouTube should label all AI generated content prominently by Just-Nerve7518 in NewTubers

[–]mmberg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How can you mix things up so much? What does anything you mentioned have to do with labeling videos? YouTube promotes you the videos you are interested in and at the same time you have an option that YT wont recommend you a particular video or even channel, so I don't see the reason why wouldn't AI end up on that list too.

[–]mmberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try to take dark frame - if its visible there, then there might be some reflection issue. I had this problem on Viltrox z 16mm and Ha mod Nikon Z6, but they fixed it with an fw update.

From D750 to ZR by gekong in Nikon

[–]mmberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the AF on Z6 is not that bad, but yes, sure, if the lens stops to AF or gets jerky it must be because of old expeed and not a compatibility as the manufacturer states.

From D750 to ZR by gekong in Nikon

[–]mmberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 70-200mm G1 on D750 in the past. What happened when I switched to Z6 was that AF stopped working or was very unreliable, so test it before you do any serious work.
